The neuticles thing is 'interesting' as it used to be against kennel club rules to exhibit a dog that wasnt 'entire' unless there was a medical reason for having the op so...if you wanted to curb a dogs wanderlust but still show it..that would be a way round it I suppose..not that I would agree with messing about with the poor dog of course to please the owners daft enough to want to do it

But the judge is suppossed to feel for them to check they are there. Wouldn't they feel different like a boob job?

I'm disgusted and I have to admit to being embarrassed at having put tinsel around Cookie's neck for the xmas photo

The lady that bred Cookie is a groomer and used to dye Cookie's mum (a full poodle) pink occasionally apparently

I think it must be hell for these poor dogs that have to go through all of this. Poor old Cookie spends 3-4 hours in the groomers every 6 weeks to have a wash, cut and blow dry and that is bad enough but it is a necessary evil. She actually comes out looking embarrassed from there as she is gleaming white for a change. She soon sorts that out though with a lovely game of chase in the park and a bit of skidding on the mud.

They come in original 'rigid' feel or 'natural' apparently.

Dog judging is so freaky. My uncle is a top dog judge and all I can think of is that he's copping a feel of dog unmentionables for a living. It's not right, is it?! :?

but that's just once for the xmas photo and when she's groomed it's for hygiene not to make her something she's not - she looks a right cracker in the photo btw and a proper dog!!

I wonder if that's available on the NHS?

It is.

'tis true... I once worked with a chap (poor thing) who'd had 'one' removed due to testicular cancer - he had a prosthesis.. I never did find out how everyone in the office knew. I mean it's not the sort of thing that you casually insert into a conversation, is it?

Do dogs get traumatised by being neutered? In my experience, they've never even noticed that they are missing

My old Border Collie didn't notice the op but there can be problems.

He was out in the park the very next day doing his usual Collie things.

I was more traumatised than him. Hated doing it but my husband had just died and poor dog was marking in the house and I couldn't cope with it all; have regretted it ever since as it does change their personality. He got food obsessed, stealing everything, and keeping his weight down has been really hard.
