It would be a shame not to let the Chickens have a present on Christmas day and was wondering if anyone else has any ideas, I saw a program yesterday that made bird feeders with wild bird seed and lard squashed up and hung from a tree, is Lard ok for chickens? thought this would work well with corn & lard hung from the run.

I have bought a shoe rack from IKEA for them to use as a perch - got the idea from another Omleteer - think ANH? (but could be wrong!!).

I dont know what they used but my plan is:

 

Layers pellets, sultanas and oats mashed up in hot water and moulded in to a ball.

Tuna spread out on the top as icing

corn on top of the icing

cabbage leaves cut in to a holly shape for the top

cherry toms as berries

 

Somehow I don't think they will admire my artistic flair and it will be trampled in to the woodchip but never mind

My girls have been bought live meal worms from wiggly wigglers. They adore them, as I bought them quite a few so they have already opened their pressie so to speak

ditto Mostin! Mine will be having a FULL tub of live mealworms, and the other day I gave them their main present early - lovely plastic roosting bars. Oh, and lots of snuggles of course!

I've got 5 years worth of dried mealworms (another thread, Ebay mixup ) so I'll be chucking large handfuls of them in at regular intervals .
