Bantambabe
I was going to post something about this on here but thought I might get ridiculed. We lurve Dr Who in our house, although I have to say I'm probably the worst culprit and I'm dreading David Tennant going. He's brill - I saw him in Hamlet at Stratford on the last night (my OH got up at 5.30am to queue for return tickets as it was my 40th birthday and he knew I'd been trying to get tickets all summer) Anyway, we played a "who's the next Who?" game over dinner this evening... Suggestions were: Paterson Joseph, Richard Armitage Robert Carlyle Hugh Grant??? The bloke that was "Midshipman Alonso Frame" in the Titanic episode Alan Davies (more in the Tom Baker mould) Adrian Chiles (well he's in everything else) ohh the anticipation..... Cinnamon
How about Colin Salmon? Or Sean Bean Or Russell Brand
Bantambabe
Wasn't Colin Salmon the Dr Moon character on the Library story - might be a bit confusing. My kids want John Simm back, but given that it wasn't entirely clear that the Master was dead I'm not sure if that wouldn't confuse things. Bantambabe
Well the papers this morning seem pretty convinced that it will be Paterson Joseph. I thhink he'd do a good job - he has quite a twinkle in his eye. well, we shall know in fewer than 3 hours.....
Angels4
I've no clue about Dr. Who but when I goodled it, there is some talk about a women becoming the next Dr. Who.....Catherine Tate or perhaps Billie Tate. I read the below on the Telegraph.co.uk Could a woman become the next Dr Who? Dr Who fans are placing bets that a woman - such as programme stars Catherine Tate or Billie Piper - could replace David Tennant in the next series of the hit BBC1 show. By Nicole Martin, Digital and Media Correspondent Last Updated: 8:45PM BST 01 Jul 2008 Comments 9 | Comment on this article Amy Winehouse is 100:1 to swap rehab for the Tardis While Robert Carlyle, James McAvoy and Alan Davies have also been tipped to take on the role, they believe that Tate or Piper could be chosen to become the first ever female Time Lord. However bookmakers are sceptical, with William Hill offering odds of 33-1 for Tate, who plays Doctor Who's assistant Donna, and Piper, who stars as his companion Rose. There are even bets being placed that troubled singer Amy Winehouse, or Sir Paul McCartney's ex-wife Mills could step into the Tardis. But the odds are even slimmer for these - with 100:1 being offered for either to step into Tennant's shoes when or if he steps down. Speculation is rife that the actor will quit before the start of the fifth series in 2010, although he has repeatedly refused to confirm the rumours. Gavin Fuller, a former Mastermind champion who chose Dr Who as his specialist subject in the first round, said it was unlikely that a woman would be chosen for the part. "I just can't see it happening," he said. "After 45 years of Dr Who being a man I doubt that such a radical step would be made. It would totally alter the dynamic of the programme." Robert Carlyle, who starred in Trainspotting, is the favourite to take over from Tennant followed by the actors James McAvoy, Jason Statham, Alan Davies and the Cold Feet star James Nesbitt. Speculation over who will become the next Dr Who comes as 10 million people prepare to watch the climax of the fourth series on Saturday. alexgirl73
Oh Robert Carlyle PLEASE!!!! He's gorgeous I just can't take to the idea of a female Dr. I'm all for equal opportunities etc, but it would just ruin it for me. Even my 8 yr old fanatical YD screwed her face up at the thought
