Stop Press- Northern despatch and dress course

Recommended Posts

This course is now fully booked.!

 Darn it. I was just about to get myself booked on

Ah well, I guess I'll just have to miss it then!:wink::lol:

I'd check the nearer the time, you never know, someone might get cold feet or have to cancel for whatever reason.

We nearly had to cancel.

:(

After getting organised so far in advance, we received an email from son's school telling us that the Youth Choir had been asked to perform at Snape maltings and he was needed for a rehearsal on 25th. The next day we received a letter from son's school saying that he was needed for a tennis camp on 25th.

After considering how we were going to split ourselves into three and son into two, we did a bit of sorting, told the choir that he was not available that day (he is also practising on three other days) and asked Dad to take him to tennis.

So after all that, we won't have to cancel after all.

However, I have to admit that I am feeling :D and  but also :vom: now the time is getting closer.

I don't relish the thought of taking a life but it's highly unlikely that either of us will go vegetarian, despite me wanting to, because we just enjoy meat too much. Therefore, I would rather raise and despatch my own birds so that i know they've had a good life, I know what they've been fed, they're not commercially slaughtered (which can be very hit amd miss unless it's done on a very small scale!).

I'll be taking lots of tissues and my rescue remedy!

Whilst OH was sent on the course down south and does the deed I have been getting braver - I find the flapping and the start of plucking (when the bird feels warm) the worse bit. I know wear marigolds for plucking and feel that much more detached. By the time it gets to the gutting stage I am fine.

Whilst it is sad at the time I can eat the chicken knowing I am happy with the life it has had from a day old.

Seeing that recent thread on the rescued free-range chickens made me even more determined. It made me realise that even free range commercial chicken doesn't get the good life I would want it to have, so the only way to guarantee it, is to do it myself.

Its too late for me to get jittery unless I want nine chickens as pets!!

WAIT! let me think...........

Tasha, let me now when you're doing it and I'll come over to help.

:D thanks! They are turning in to great ugly eating machines now so I don't feel so bad now
