new frizzle polands (Pics added)

Recommended Posts

Hi all firstly can i say a happy new year to everyone. Now for my problem I bought myself two 11 week old chamois frizzle polands and a 11 week old poland cross all banties. i have had them in a box in the shed since i got them on new years eve i decided to put them in my small rabbit ark today but just been out to check there ok and they are still out chirping away. Should i just leave them or should i put them back in the shed? the rabbit ark hasnt got a door its just open all the time.

Thanks

I think they are a little young to be outside at night, at the moment, when the temperatures really plummet, especially in a rabbit ark. If they were in an Eglu it would be a different matter, although I, who never close my Eglu doors , would do so for such youngsters.

They are gorgeous and adorable and I need some more of them. We have 3 girls left from our original 5 bantie polands and they are the most characterful birds we have. I would keep yours in the warm a bit longer - its raw and snowy out and I always think they don't have a lot of spare fat/feather on them to keep warm. Our 3 have the services of Daphne a large black orpington to snuggle into on these cold winter nights....

they are gorgeous!

I would maybe keep them in somewhere warm for a bit longer until they are stronger and this cold snap has gone. :)

My new little girls are 15 weeks and have been in the eglu for a few weeks, but we have covered the eglu and have given them hot water bottles also.

Well now, I have to go and get some of those! I have one Poland left out of a pair and they are the most ridiculous, funny, just plain daft birds I have ever come across. Even Daves Bok Bok is more of a SQQQUAAAWWWWKKK!

Lindy Loo, Perfect Poultry in Ligh"Ooops, word censored!"er has Polands, black ones with a white head last time I looked - they're a bit fab! When my broody goes broody again in the spring (hopefully) I might have to put a couple of Poland eggs under her as well as some meat birds!
