Baby has double break in leg WITH UPDATES & photos HOT NEWS

Recommended Posts

That is great news. Well done, all your efforts have paid off!

With regards to what the vet said about her perhaps walking with a limp, after Åsa broke her leg, and then had the cast removed, she hopped about in a rather endearing fashion, with a skippy gait....this happened for about a month until her leg built up muscle again, and now you would never know she'd ever been injured at all. She's been charging around in the snow this past week. I'm sure Baby will be just the same, but even if she's not, she'll still get around ok!

My one that was broken is good now, had a small set back with being sat on by mean sisters,So kept apart unless supervised. NO limp now :D

Hi

When Baby is out one of us is with her and if we see any hens trying to have a go at her then they are put in the eglu run whilst Baby free ranges. So far 2 hens have been there , bit like rugby they go in the sin bin :!::!::!:

Best regards

Hi Everyone

Because of the way in which Baby leg has been treated by the vets and also the cost side of things, her leg was not operated on but put in a splint.

This was the cheaper option (£145), the broken bones were placed together so the would hopefully mesh together.

This they have to a degree but are not quiet in line so there is a slight overlap, her leg is a

little bit shorter than the other this will cause a limp we hope she will get used to it over time she is doing very, very well at the moment.

Best regards

Hi

The £145 was the start if you add in the extra visits we would say it cost around about £200.

But we think it is worth it as Baby is the youngest of our hens. She sleeps in a large dog cage on fleece inside a round base which is really a small cat bed in brown but it looks like a nest.

When she goes to bed she snuggles into this and looks really at home and so lovely.

Hi Everyone,

Baby is slowly getting back to normal, over the last few days she has had a few short free ranges then today she has free ranged all after noon but was waiting to be taken to her penthouse in the bungalow this evening.

As soon as she got in she had so food and water then sorted herself out and hopped into her nest bed for a well earned rest.

Best regards

Hi Everyone

Since the weather here in Preesall has got a little warmer we have moved Baby into the

Eglu to sleep at night. As she has 2 blue belle hen friends we have moved Tinker belle who she really gets on with in to the Elgu as well at night.

This is to give her company and allows Tinker belle a little more rest bite as she is molting at the moment.

During the day all the hens have been free ranging and when we call them to give them mast Baby flies so the bowl to be first but she still comes to Ian for a cuddle which he enjoys give to her.

So will keep everyone updated as and when it happens.

Our next happening will be to find out if one of out Boxer girls is expecting puppies or not this will happen next week.

Best regards

Ian & Valerie

Also Baby the Hens says Thanks for all the well wishes sent from Omleteers :D:angel:
