Days are getting longer

Recommended Posts

I was just going to start a topic on how the days seem to be getting longer  great minds think alike :D :D

Before I had chickens I didn't really notice the gradual changes in day length - it was either long days and summer or short days and winter.

A few times this week, I've looked at the clock and thought the girls will be waiting for me to close the cube door, only to go out and find them all still up :D :D

Roll on Spring and the longer days :D :D :D

mine were out this afternoon with me, but they are going to have to learn not to trip me up, everytime I move they think I am going to give them something tasty.. they did get a worm each from some earth DH dug over, it didn't even touch the sides of their little beaks, it was down in one!

Really dark here now, got dark about 5.00pm

When I was dog poo picking :vom: I happened to notice the tips of the daffodils peeking through the soil  where does the time go? Half way through January already....

I forgot to mention it when I noticed, but we had our first narcissus break into bloom on New Year's Day  ! Stupidly forgot to take a picture as I was out during the daylight hours after I had noticed it! Strangely enough, no others have broken forth as the weather has been so cold of late, but there are lots of shoots pushing well above the grass level.

:( It will be quite a while before they are still up at 6.00 when I get in from work. However I am noticing the lighter mornings, as the time to tiptoe up the garden and extract the newbie from the Cube to put in her own run is getting earlier and earlier.

I love seeing the garden change; before I had chickens I doubt if I would have set foot in the garden from about October - March. What a lot I would have missed!
