Happy chickens!
Ok, have gone a little mad this morning! The sun was out and the greenhouse was so warm and cosy, so I sowed.....beetroot, parsnips, cauliflower, more tomatoes and chillis (free seeds from Gardeners World ) carrots, brussels sprouts, salad leaves, purple sprouting broccoli, marigolds, verbena, lavatera and some extra broad beans - those that were outside got taken by all the cold weather. May regret all this if the weather goes cold again, but do have some heating in the greenhouse.

Valkyrie
Sowed my Aquadulce Claudia broad beans - only to find my missing packet shortly afterwards. I also sowed some Crimson Flowered broad beans. Then Chilli pepper - Cayenne. Toms - Cherry Ripe. Lots more toms have sprouted but nothing else so far. Tiggy
I planted some toms in my propergator 2 weeks ago but the compost is all covered in white fur and there are no seeedlings, looks like starting all over again
Valkyrie
Sounds like a bit too much water there, I'm afraid. Perhaps with a change and sowing again if you just let the air get to them every now and again because the condensation does build up a fair bit. Cinnamon
I got my first radishes in today, plus a row of peas (another to follow in 2 weeks), some leeks & some flat leaf parsley in my porch. Its so nice just to make a start
Valkyrie
Just lots of potting up so far - in between the digging. Only one pepper showing but the toms have gone bonkers - that's because of the passata machine - I shall be taking over mums garden too to find space in mine. Globe artichokes are sprouting well. The only things that are not doing anything at all are the onions, except for the Heritage seed variety - and even they look bleh! Oh, and the All Year Round cauli's, but they are old seed - I have others sprouting so not all doom and gloom. Rhubarb is showing in the garden so I will have to protect it before it gets grubbed up or eaten. OH has found an article from the Organic Gardening magazine that he printed off yonks ago about planting in containers, so I shall be reading through that this evening for inspiration. Valkyrie
I do a Kitchen Garden Diary on the computer every year and comments at the end on what I did well and things that didn't do so good. Every year I try something a bit different so it's one big lifelong experiment.
blackgold
I never have the time or energy these days. What I tend to do is plant loads of things willy nilly and then grow to hate pricking out so much in the end I have plants coming out of my ears lol

blackgold
I grow courgettes in very large pots, so i start them in batches some early and some later to go in the ground. I had one in the greenhouse bed last year and it grew all the way up the path , it fruited into december. I planted perpetual spinach, sweetpeas, beans and sunflowers last night. In the toilet roll inners in a cat litter tray...... these seeds are ones that got lost in the back of a drawer so we will see.. Valkyrie
Basil, pak choi, and some that are very slow to germinate or failed again - peppers Soror Sarek and Golden Californian Wonder - the red version that was sown after those is going great guns. More All Year Round cauli, but it was old seed so I have emptied the packet. If they all germinate I will pop the unwanted seedlings in the girls tea or breakfast. Also another go at Celeriac - new packet, but no show. Does anyone know if they are slow to germinate as a rule?
