quirkas
Cannot decide which colour to get, my choice is blue which others ( I have aof course bored people witless asking for opinions) have said looks a bit cold. My partner went for red which I think think is too bloodlike given chickens and their pecking of things red. Not drawn to pink or purple so stuck. I have had Milly chicken for 4 years I rehomed her and she was introduced to my other girls (which took a long time) who being so much older have passed to the roost in the sky. So the plan is Milly goes into a Eglu while we take down the old run, reorganise the garden and then invest in a cube and get four Marans or similiar, company for Milly, eggs for us and compost for the allotment. A good plan but stuck on the wretched colour, what do others think?
cluckbok
Well all the colours are lovely of course, but we've got green because it mingles in with all our lovely planting around the garden. We've also got green fences. I also think that orange is nice.

bigmommasally
Welcome to the forum. I've got which I love. However the is (not cold) and with the blue you can easily get matching fence paint, garden pots etc. Have you thought about - it looks really funky in the orange. Whatever colour you choose I'm sure you'll love it, - have you asked Milly if she has a preference?
smanners
My preference is blue too although when I phoned Omlet they said they didn't sell many blue ones We ended up with and because they were bought second hand. I would have quite liked an orange one too! I guess it's individual preference at the end of the day Enjoy what ever you choose
Yorkshire Pudding
Mine is orange - I wanted it to stand out at the bottom of the garden - it does! It's very indeed!
Chickvic
I have a blue one and love it! Not cold at all I will post a photo if you like. I'm also looking at getting a blue cube
Ain't Nobody Here
I got blue because that was one of the colours on offer for reconditioned eglus (and I have 3 boys ). I would have loved purple . It's definitely not a cold blue .....
moomin
I have blue and I love it to bits. And I have a new purple one waiting for my new girls to arrive on the 24th. All the flowers in my garden are blue/mauve/purple/pink so I am hoping they will set the 2 eglus off well in the Summer
TAJ
Here I have green & red. I went for green as it blends with the garden - all our fences are stained green. The red one was 2nd hand - not my choice of colour, but now it is here I like the colour. I think some of the darker colours are easier to keep clean than the lighter colours (from previous posts, not from personal experience). Blue gives colour to the garden as opposed to us that like the 'boring green' but I think would also blen in. Personally I do not like the orange or pink and keep changing my mind about lilac. quirkas
Bless your hearts for replying and thanks so much for the blue photo, I have been wavering all day, the choice is certainly an orange or blue and I think it may be an orange one (is there a yellow one) as it is the colour of sunshine in the summer and also the colour of Autumnal leaves. Interesting thought re the paler ones getting dirty. I have of course asked a load more people. Milly is alas asleep when I get home and barely up in the morning when I leave, but I will have speaks, beak to beak with her at the weekend. After reading about it on this forum we went to Bell Plantation Garden Centre near Towcester and had a good look at the Eglu and cube and other makes of Chicken house. We pulled and pushed and found that often with the wooden ones (like I have had) the doors don't quite close etc. and the muck shelf is a bit of a struggle. However the real selling point for me is the that once you buy one of the wood houses and erect it in the garden I cannot imagine moving or taking it down and re errecting is going to easy. I can see wood splitting, lost screws, bad language and a teetering house. Does the Eglu come ready errected or not?
moomin
The Eglu comes in one piece, you just have to fit the run on it's dead easy to do yourself if the Omlet man isn't delivering it for you I have blue and I love it to bits. And I have a new purple one waiting for my new girls to arrive on the 24th. All the flowers in my garden are blue/mauve/purple/pink so I am hoping they will set the 2 eglus off well in the Summer U have chickens AND flowers in your garden ??!! I used to have flowers, now I just have fat chickens I had quite a few flowers last summer but my chickens were only little. This year they have big strong legs and the way they are already raking up the young shoots of me hardy geraniums I think I'll be glad of the 2 Eglus to provide a bit of colour! 4 of them have feathery legs though so hopefully they won't do as much damage! Ygerna
I have a and a at the moment but my new will be here soon. The Eglus were second hand so I got what was for sale, however, trying to decide which Cube colour to get was a complete nightmare, I went from wanting Orange, to wanting Lilac, to blue, to red and then back to Orange. Round and round it went. In the end I asked my ED who is 4 which she wanted and she chose the I wish I had asked her at the start, it would have saved all the stress

maryeadrian
Does anyone know if the blue cube is the same blue as the eglu ? It looks more like a royal blue on the website, but on the photos posted here the eglu looks almost looks light blue. Thanks! Mary
quirkas
The eglu arrived (great delivery chap) and today Milly was moved into it as we dismantled the old run. As dusk approached she was not happy and kept casting wistful looks at the old run and lots of calling. I put her in the eglu house and of course out she got. I hid inside the conservatory and peeked out at her, then went out and chatted and eventually Milly took the plunge and went inside. Phew!.
