Ms Marple
Look like eczema to me too. My YS has had it on and off since he was very small. He is now 16 and I noticed that having spent years getting it under control it started to flare up as he went through puberty. Now it gets worse when the weather is like we are currently experiencing or equally when we get our English muggy summer. It also flares up when he is a bit stressed - exam nerves stuff. You need to keep vigilant as they don't always spot it??Boys I guess.

Looney
ooh, looks sore I used to get something very similar in the creases of my arms and behind my knees. It was always worse in winter as, like someone else mentioned, you wear more clothes so there is less opportunity for air to circulate in your creases. My only suggestion other than the creams is for him to wear loose cotton clothing and to let the air get to the rashy bits as often as possible. I can sympathise and remember as the rash dries out it gets itchier
Groovychook
I get it on the back my knees, but in the summer! It drives me to distraction!
ClaireG
Adam had very bad eczema when he was younger. A lot of it was food related but luckily he seems to have grown out of that. I can tell when he is going to be ill though as he always has a flare then. He is also worse in hayfever season, so is itchy and sneezy! He has anti- histamine for his hayfever which helps his eczema as well.

cordelia
thought it excema too...my girl suffered terribly as a toddler/baby.....and now 10 still can get it around her hands... one tip I've not heard others mention...my Consultant years ago, said to watch if it flares up after things like baked beans, spaghetti in sauce (tinned awful stuff) and tomato soup.... and my girls did....its somehting in that sauce that causes a reaction.... tomatoes, tinned or fresh and ketchup had no effect/affect? so they were ok still just something to bear in mind... hope its useful.. (we've just got another huge tub of diprobase cream for sorting out our girls hands, some years since I used to cover them in the stuff )
BERTIE MCSQUIRTY
another good tip is to put some porridge oats in the bath - the natural oats will sooth and moisten the skin
Seagazer
Can I ask how much oats should be used? YS used some spray paint at the weekend on a little woodwork project he has got and managed to get it onto his hands. Hands all itchy and sore and incredibly dry. I'm sure when I used hydrocortisone and sudocream before it made his hands worse. I thought I might try a more natural remedy this time. LJ's Chooks
my son and i both get it and it's often brought on by the weather or swimming pools etc... normally behind the knees is the worst. We have used pretty much everything, but now use Hope's relief cream and it is fantastic. Totally natural with none of the usual nasty petrochemical based rubbish in it (most ecsma creams are loaded with nasties ) . You can get it off the internet normally next day... not very credit crunch friendly, but brilliant! I get really dry, cracking hands and it sorts that our too.... a great one to have in the cupboard.
