My OS has come out in a rash and it's itchy ictchy!!! I cannot drive him out to the docs at the moment becuase of the roads, but the doctor is calling me soon, I wondered if anyone recognised it. It is on the inside creases of his elbows, behind knees and thighs.

edited to add I have not changed detergents or anything like that, he's not eaten anything unusual, its baffling.

I have a similar rash at the moment which has been caused by me dressing up so warm that those areas overheat and get sweaty and sore (sorry....) - could that explain it?

It looks like either an allergy rash ( thats where LMW gets her anti cat rash) or mild ezcema- mind you I'm not a medic. Either way try putting some E45 cream or Sudocream on it that should soothe it.

Looks a bit like heat rash to me loops; Rosie sometimes gets it. Does he have any other symptoms?

Those locations are the classic places for eczema. Redwing may be right about the overheating. How old is he loopyloo?

It looks like excema type rash - and is in the right places - but could be a number of things Sorry - not much help.

he's ok just the rash really, it's just sore sore sore, soaking in a bath helps

 

he's 13, and he's always had eczema type skin so gets those little patches now and again when he's run down, but nothing ever like this.

I'd say heat rash or mild eczema as well. If you have any child friendly anti- histimine in the house it might be worth giving him some, it should help the itching.

thats what I think it is aswell.. but to flare up like this is SO unusual for him.

 

edited to add, antihistamine meds given plus a thin layer of his eczema cream applied, I hope that helps him.

I get eczema on my hands which has flared up which it tends to do when there is a change in the weather. Try the e45 type cream. It could also be a heat rash which the same sort of cream would help. As would the anti histamines. Hope this is of some help.

Winter weather can make skin very dry, and eczema-type skin tends to dryness so the creams will probably help through moisturizing the skin.

Looks like a flexural atopic eczema to me.......prob a flare up of his usual eczema in response to an allergic reaction, sitting exams or something. Looks quite angry so probably a bit of hydrocortisone and emollients required.

Also even though he hasn't eaten anything unusual, he could have develpoed a food allergy over time......over the years I've gradually become allergic to peas and lentils (which I used to eat all the time), so don't rule out the food thing.

urticaria - I agree my YD had exactly the same type of rash on her face and arms last summer, the DR recommended anti-histamines and calamine lotion.

 

Always best to check with rashes though.

 

Hope he is OK soon.

well I've spoken to doctor and she's prescribed him some hydrocortisone cream and stronger antihistamine tablets to help him.

DS2 suffers from excema and that is how it starts each time.....same place too.

he always used to have to bath in oilatum and wash with emoilient cream when he was little but he's got better over time and how this has flared up, I guess it just surpirsed me how much there was ie in so many areas, he's always just had the odd patch before.

It looks nasty poor lad. My YS has very sensitive skin and comes out in a rash at the drop of a hat. He had a bright red face with spots on Monday which I think was just brought on by the cold.

 

I hope the medicine works for him quickly.

I'm trying but it's not an easy thing the new tablets are stronger antihistamines so they will help with that. The chemist didn't have the cream in stock so we have to colelct it tomorrow, he's using his old eczema cream until then.

Must be something going around the schools Loops- Rosie has it now. In fact, she says that she's had ot for days but hasn't mentioned it to me because she wasn't too bothered by it
