Lesley
I've been no stranger to it myself either I will try to keep off my soapbox here, but young women need more information and better education. They also need to be made aware of the role played by the HPV virus in the development of cervical cancer. Exactly the same here......... ....but I would say that young men need to be aware as well. fluffyknickers
I lost a friend to cancer and she left behind a 1 year old and 5 year old as well as her husband and family so unfortunately seen how tragic it is. It is very sad indeed and hope that people will take heed and have regular check-ups if they don't already.
mostin
It is so tragic, she is not one of the most intelligent of people but there are alot of people in this country less intelligent than Jade who would have trusted their GP even more, which makes this even more tragic and frightening. Reading one report months ago when she was first diagnosed the cancer was huge and even protruding slightly from her when it was finally diagnosed, which was why such radical surgery had to be the first step. I do think her doctor must have been blind to have missed this , or to tell her it was just a prolapse. The poor girl, it was going to be the toughest of battles right from the start. I hope she leaves her boys in safe hands.
cathybc
Like a lot of others, I am not a Jade fan but she does not deserve what has happened and it is terribly sad. I know she has been criticised for doing her show but if a)that is how she feels she has to deal with it, and b)if it can raise awareness, then hopefully the publicity will have benefits. baby bears mum
I am also not a fan. But feel desperately sorry for her and her boys. It is difficult not to agree with your GP when they offer a diagnosis but I am a believer in gut feeling and whilst it is hard to argue with a professional sometimes I think you just have to - have had some experience with this (sucessfully thank heavens). Am thinking of her, her boys and anyone else who is affected out there. xxxxx
The Dogmother
I've been no stranger to it myself either I will try to keep off my soapbox here, but young women need more information and better education. They also need to be made aware of the role played by the HPV virus in the development of cervical cancer. Exactly the same here......... ....but I would say that young men need to be aware as well. The problem being that *most* (and I'm not generalising here) young men aren't too concerned; it's not happening to them, so it just doesn't factor into their lives, not in most cases anyhow. It is alarming and so very sad how unaware most youngsters are about STDs in general and HPV in particular. The cavalier attitude towards safe sex makes me so angry. People of my age are more genned up on it having been through the dawning of HIV, most of us know someone who has, or has died from HIV. Ain't Nobody Here
This may not be appropriate for a family forum (Claret, do the business if not ) I have a friend with an 18 year old daughter. I was rather horrified to hear of the new (to me) phenomenon "s** buddy" . Not someone you are having a relationship with, just "relations" with . The ideal way to spread STDs to my mind . chelsea
Did anyone else watch the Jade - with love programme last night? I cant get this song out of my head (they played it at her funeral ) and after looking it up on youtube I was really surprised to see it was an Abba song! I think its really poignant as her mum chose it for the funeral .....says it all really. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bv8z-RRucso
BERTIE MCSQUIRTY
i watched it too - very emotional and well put together. i think she did well to allow this to be filmed in the first place - dont think i could have done that. i did like the father of her boys - i thought they were more of a family together than the one she married the other week

Ms Marple
Great song - not an ABBA song I was familiar with which surprised me being of the Dancing Queen generation. The girl is gone RIP. I hope there will be no more negative comments. I think the programme was very well done. Living tend to repeat stuff quite alot so it will more than likely be on again - perhaps same time next week. fluffyknickers
Its a lovely song. I remember hearing it when I was in the cinema watching the film and googling it as thought it had lovely words. Now when watch the DVD still cry. My friend who died leaving two very young children had "somewhere over the rainbow" at hers and now whenever i hear it feel sad but also smile as remember her. I was so surprised it was Abba, and even more astonished that the link I posted is sung by Meryl streep! Its beautiful and have been humming it all day. I bawled last night when I saw the footage they played at her funeral with this song. Yeah, living do repeat stuff so keep a beady eye out for it cookiemonster.
