Candle Making

Recommended Posts

Has anyone ever tried this :D ,

Ive just been reading Prima Magazine (its ok, Kev bought it for me  )

and there was a woman in there who made her own candles, after saying that she used to spend £30 on candles

anyway, she said that she started making them and experimenting with essential oils and stuff.

she uses a site called www.fullmoons-cauldron.co.uk

so, I had a look and I have ordered myself a kit and I am thinking about going into business against Yankee :lol:

it should be exciting :D

I bought the stuff to make candles to put in my Xmas baskets but I wasn't very impressed. The scent was supposed to be enough for the wax I had but following the instructions I used a whole bottle on the first 4 candles and would have quickly run out. The colours were also disappointing - again following the instructions I used the right amount but the Christmas red was faded and orange and like the scent would not have lasted through the whole kit.

I kinda gave up after that and have a basket full of soya wax and stuff in the cupboard - I'll have another go one day but I'm definately NOT going to be rivalling the good folks at Yankee candle.

right :D

2 candles - made

really easy.

I went out and got a couple of glass candle holders (you know the type that should hold candles) - from a charity shop  (gave the nice lady the candles from the holders back - cos I was gonna make my own  )

filled up the glasses, and now letting it set

:D

ive taken photos of the process, so will load them up in a bit :D

One of the chaps at our wine circle asked me if I wanted a candle making kit he had going spare. He's bringing it for me at the next meeting. Seeing as it's free, I thought I may aswell give it a try :D

I was in Ikea yesterday and they have gorgeous little shot glasses that might do the job for you? They were £1.46 for 6 so approx 24p each?

If you're giving them as gifts, that would make them quite economical wouldn't it AND when the person has burnt the candle, they have a lovely shot glass to boot! :D

I bought 2 sets to give away with my flavoured schnapps as gifts.

they remind me of those shot glasses in old westerns, you know, where the bartender slides the glass along the bar :D

I'm going to get another couple or three sets for the summer and make jelly shots in them for a nice little BBQ/garden party ;)
