These are some cream crested legbar chicks hatched yesterday, three more have hatched in the incubator this morning, so I'll transfer them into the brooder with these two once they have fluffed up.

 

 

This is my 2nd attempt at incubating, I had no luck the first time so I'm chuffed to bit to have these hatch.

May I suggest some small stones or marbles in that drinker tray to stop the little babies drowning themselves - they're a bit brainless at that age and are inclined to upend themselves in the water

Claret, thanks for the advice, I will sort that now. To be honest, I had read that before but couldn't find any at home, someone today suggested well washed pebbles, so i'll use those instead (i should have thought of that, doh!).

How and when can you sex these sweet little soles..?

They can be sexed when they hatch as they are an autosexing breed.

I think i've been very lucky, in fact, I think out of five, four are girls, although i'm waiting for 2 to fluff up fully to be sure. One is definately a boy but he has a deformed foot so is going to be culled when I can convince my hubby it's the right thing to do, he keeps telling me to leave him as he thinks it might right itself!! x
