Guest
Anyone else watching? That woman for Tesco's is the awful woman who spoke to HFW about chickens - she didn't know when to shut up then and still doesnt! I also think the Waitrose bloke is the same one that was on the Jamie Oliver programme. Interesting results too.
bluekarin
Yes I saw it. I guessed that Waitrose would be first, but was pleasantly surprised that Sainsbury, where we shop, to were second! So nice that lots of people are turning away from satan, I mean, Tesco
Hen Watch
Quentin was the same Waitrose chap. Love Waitrose - not bad really considering Waitrose only have 198 shops compared to Tesco's 2200 shops.
chickencam
We saw this and growled at the TV when we saw the horrible Tesco media woman again We love Waitrose, but it is a few miles away from us so we only go once a month or so. We do most of our shopping in Morrisons and hate the queues but their produce is not bad at all especially their meat. Tesco's meat is awful but we do buy a free range chicken if ever we go there just to show how popular they are
missuscluck
I love waitrose and sainsburys. I still love Aldi the best for weekly neccesarys like cleaning stuff/toiletrys and basics like pasta and rice. I always come out feeling I have had value for money and the 'special buys' are always great for a bit of an extra treat. I got lots of packets of 39p seeds today and some potting compost for 96p. Also their skin care range is excellent and the anti-wrinkle cream won first in some award or other on TV against all the expensive creams. Its £1.99 a pot The hand cream is excellent at 86p and I have bought some facial wash, a face mask and face scrub to try too all at £1.55 each. I used to buy Virgin-vie but I just cant stretch to it anymore. I havent noticed I look any different for it tbh
freddie
Support your local butcher!!! A while ago, I was contracted to write secifications for meat, and its production/packaging for M and S, in a newish £6 million pound meat plant. I NEVER buy supermarket meat Try the mince; the auger it is minced through was green with old, dried meat. Try the joints, the blocks were filthy, the blokes, well words escape me, and the "sterilizing baths" were sort of the right temp to brew whatever bugs were the choice of the day!! Local butchers have to be clean and accountable, and by the main, their meat is great, in quality and prep!! Rant done!!

We're lucky up here in having a wide choice of excellent local producers and easy access to biweekly farmers' markets. I buy only the odd free range chicken from Morrisons but it must be difficult for city dwellers to easily source local produce.
The Dogmother
We're lucky too in being able to buy all our meat directly from local producers. I buy the other few essentials from Ocado.

I was a QA Manager, but now stay home to look after the children, but still find the industry fascinating. (Wont go into what I think of the Technical/QA manager at this particular plant though )
