Cinnamon
that you can now tax your car online via the DVLA website? Good,eh? I loath having to go to the Post office to do this (however I may have to as the site is down due to maintenence at the moment (
One Man Banned
Yes I did! It's great and they send you out a nice nealty printed tax disc out too Much better than the scrawny hand written ones they give out at the Post Office. Although I do wonder if it's all a scam to get the post offices closed down
Cate in NZ
Yes, I taxed my car online earlier this year, so much quicker and easier
Guest
yes you can - as long as you have one of those new fangled MOT certificates.... Phil
Guest
Apparantly with those new fangled MOT certificates, you don't even need to take it with you to the Post Office, as it's all on the computor. I wasn't brave enough to try when I got mine recently - I took it just in case - there's nothing worse than standing in a queue for half an hour, only to find you've not brought the correct stuff! Mel (& Paul)
Aha! I use something better than me going to the post office, or getting it on line May I present my patented, all improved (& Paul)!!! Not only does he clean the eglus, but he gets the car tax! He makes the most delicious scrambled eggs and smoked salmon for breakfast and the best cup of tea in the world (he has also just agreed with only two to me spending a fortune on the Count Your Chickens website
Charlottechicken
Although I do wonder if it's all a scam to get the post offices closed down The only part of Royal Mail which makes a loss is Post Office Counters, so more likely the Post Office will let the contract end and not enter into a new on I think. Don't know how they expect us to use their services without somewhere to buy them!

Guest
I did mine online earlier this year too. Absolutely briliant. I could run my whole life from the computer! And for the first time ever in my life, my car didn't need an MOT!
Popcorn
oh, excellent. Mine is up at the end of the month. I'm going to give the online tax a go. How long shall I leave it before I do it? Saying that though, the guys in our local PO are just brilliant. They are such friendly chaps who make your day when you go in.

What have you ordered? I fancy the earings I know OH would go if I got them Got a Jimi Hen Drinks T-shirt and mug ( ) and a line drawing of chooks by Joanna Twinn I aslo wanted the embroidered pictured that AnnieP got for the silent acution 0 but two would have been FAR too expensive - but (& Paul) has said if we win the lottery I can get as much chicken stuff as i like (silly boy only said if we win the lottery and did not specify an amount - so even if I win £10............ ) The earings are lovely but (& Paul) already goes too much and I would be worried about his eyes falling out

The Dogmother
Back on topic I was going to renew my car tax online, but decided against trusting all my personal and credit card details to a government run website, especialy after they managed to 'lose' the personal details of 2,000 of their civil servants from one of their own databases
