Egzandra
I read a book about keeping chickens recently, I can't remember which one it was, which had a section for crafts - doing crafty things with feathers and egg shells. Does anyone on here do this? Does anyone draw or paint pictures of their pets including the chickens? Egzandra
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Ubereglu draws (and paints?) chickens. Somebody posted pics of a nest they made with feathers for one of those lifelike-looking baby dolls. The ones that look super-real. Apart from this one was like an elfin fairy, hence the nest. I love the idea of using feathers for stuff. I'd be interested to see any pics of innovative feather useage. As for shells, I am toying with the idea of making an easter egg tree - where you paint the shells pretty pastel colours and hang them from a nice branch, but time being what it is, it may not happen. Plum
I like the idea of an easter egg tree. Have you seen any inspiration anywhere. I don't think mine will be pastel though.
Snowy
I don't know about actually using egg shells and feathers, but a lot of what I make has developed a very chickeny theme!

Plum
I googled a site with some good tips. http://familyfun.go.com/arts-and-crafts/season/specialfeature/easter_eggs_ms/ One technique is to apply rubber cement in whatever design you want then dye the egg and you peel off the cement and it leaves swirls, lines whatever you did. Another one is to dye the egg then apply glue in dots or whatever then roll in coloured sand. I have some pressure sensitive glue and metal foils so I'll have a go with that. Not at the moment though, I'm supposed to be revising for an exam on 9th March.
Egzandra
That is a gorgeous tree. Thanks also for that link, Plum, I have just e-mailed it to my brother as his two children like crafts! Wouldn't mind trying some of those eggs myself.
Olly
We used to do this as children - blow the eggs and then paint them, and hang them from branches of pussy-willow. Time-consuming but great fun and you can have lots of scrambled egg!
bekibutton
I love the idea of using feathers for stuff. I'd be interested to see any pics of innovative feather useage. Don't have the pics on this computer but I wore feathers in my hair to my Xmas do a couple of years ago - that is, moulted Light Brahma feathers dyed bright colours with inks! I'll post a pic when I can find it. I also made a mini wreath out of moulted Black Orp feathers for the front of their henhouse, but I think that pic's on the other computer too!
