BIG Decision made....suspense drum roll

Recommended Posts

At long last and last minute change of mind :D

I have ordered a green cube with 2 gingernuts(yes i am personally a member of the ginger club myself) GNR .....it is being delivered on April 14th (cube green)

So in the meantime I have got to get the hammer and nails and wire roll out to build a run

By ordering 2 chickens omlet are going to build it for me!!

What type of food do i need to buy ?

Also can anyone give me a shopping list of items I must get!!! I have a feed merchant near me that sells everything...do i need bug powder etc etc

Hooray

Congratulations! Keeping chickens is great! You will not regret it. :D

OH will forgive you when you start giving him lovely fresh eggs from your girls.

Layers pellets, fresh water and something to line the poo trays are all they need from day 1. Add in other things like Aubiose/Hemcore bedding, Red Mite Powder, wormer etc. as and when. That way it's not such a big bill to start with. There is some great advice on the FAQs stickies, which you can read to fill the time while you wait for your (cube green) and GNRGNR . :D

YAY!!!!

These husbands dont have to know stuff - just minor details. Just tell them when it arrives that it cost a couple of quid.

I have had mine for nearly two weeks and so far so good I have two GNRGNR and a PP and a standard run and (cube purple) .

I think you should add a PP to the order - they are GORGEOUS.

I ordered most of my stuff to come with the cube and chickens as was easier and was paying for delivery anyway.

I ensured I had -

Food (omlet)

Grit

Garlic

Bokashi

Tonic (for water)

Bedding(aubiose and woodchip)

Diatom

Stalosan

Linkabord

corn (treat)

extra little pots for the grit and so I could put an extra food station in (while they settled the pecking order)

Leather gloves (reduced in B&Q) so I and kids could hand feed them

Rubber gloves (pooh picking and dirty jobs)

They arent all essential but I couldnt help myself and I like buying stuff!

So exciting.

A (cube green) with only 2 GNR ? You need more!

No, really, if something awful should happen to one girl, the other will be lonely and sad and you will have the problem of introducing a new girl. So start with at least 3!

Also, I don't know about the insulation in the (cube green), but when we were looking at wooden coops, the lady at the DFT said that if we got the larger one but only 4 GNR they would get cold at night and so we got the smaller coop that was designed for 4 hens.

So, ordering a (cube green) seems an excellent excuse to have more than 2 girls!!!

Go on, you know you want to :D !
