debbie26pet
i have now sectioned the garden of for my girls, and it has a covering of chip and bark, do u leave them in there big run for the morning and let them out after they have eaten a fair amount of mash or pellets? or do u let them out and hope they are going bk to get it. mine are fed on mash, and im leaving them in the big run till after 1 each day then out till they go bed, but hubby is saying let them out in morning till they go bed this is the finished product
LJ's Chooks
I typically let the girls out at around 9.30 and back in at 3pm... they have a cube with 2 extensions, but then a large free range area, but I know we have foxes, so i do make sure they are back in their cube run by the time i go and pick the kids up at 3. I hang the pellets on their run door so it is with them in the free range area and they do eat from it through the day too. they certainly seem to get through pellets, so i can only assume they get enough. craftyhunnypie
I let mine in the eglus & cube have a feed up & lay - then they come out for most of the day when we are in. The ones in the shed come out at 8am until bedtime, in their enclosure. Emma.x
C&T
Wow!! They even have swings!!! If we are at home, they tend to get let out late morning - give them chance to fill up on food. Having said that, if we are in the garden from earlier, then we will let them out to play.... They look so sad staring at us enjoying the garden while they are cooped up!! meezers
Mine go out between 12 and 1pm, at 12 they are all crowded around their gate like old ladies waiting for the jumble sale to start they stay out until 5ish, but it will get later as the evenings get lighter, last summer they stayed out 'til bedtime. Chickvic
Mine come out at about 12 at the weekends, and just left until they go to bed. (Unless we're going out!) In the week they tend to come out at about 4pm because I'm not back from work until then, and yes there were some days over winter when they didn't come out at all. They go mad when they see me at the back door
thewhitehouse
When I'm at work they don't come out until after 5 but when I'm at home they come out at about 1 to give them time to fill up on mash and to give the garden a chance !

Plum
At weekends I keep mine in till afternoon so they are not shouting at me and nagging. They see me around and know I'm not always going to give them attention. Otherwise its like making a rod for your back and you are at their beck and call (no matter how endearing they are!). Oh dear I do sound hard. They have me wrapped round their little claws really.
Blackrocksrock
Mine are out all day long as they fly over the netting anyway once they are in the large netted area and out of the eglu run!. They have to get to below the bird feeders to get the bits of stuff the birds drop for them! They go back to bed late afternoon by themselves but go back and forward to the eglu all day and free range all over the garden all day long. mostin
Mine are out all day everyday, they love playing out and it doesn't seem to stop them laying at all because they free-range so much.
Hen Watch
Mine are out free ranging at 9.30-10am ish, after the school run. I work part time so 2 days a week they stay in until 2pm and they don't seem to mind. At weekends, I try and stick to the 9.30am free ranging routine. They get let out into their run at 7.30am but I wanted to make sure they stay in their run until 9.30 so that they a) eat pellets and b) don't get out of routine and start demanding free range time on school days. Janty
Mine are spoilt hence the trashed garden and the ordering of a walk on run. They come out at 6ish in the morning and go back when they feel like. I'm getting plenty of eggs so it obviously suits them.
