TAJ
A bit of a saga, which will not be resolved until 9th April but it is here and the girls are in it. Mr Omlet was happily building it for quite some time, then I noticed a SMALL door going on the end! Some of you may recall I order a recon the day before the large doors came out - so I rang them back to say will it come with a large door? - if not, given the cost of buying a large door (£50+ with postage and recon only £50 off anyway) I would cancel and order a new one instead. I was reassured everything that went out from that date - new or recon would have the large door and I would be getting a large door. Apparently this is not the case and some recons are still going out with the old door - Mr Omlet told me I never should have been promised a large door. I promptly rang Omlet and spoke to the same person who could recall telling me I would get a large door and she still believed that should be the case. However she then went to check and came back and said sorry she made a mistake - yes a small door was correct. I reminder her of my conversation that I would have cancelled the recon order 3 weeks earlier had that have been the case and as I had been promised the large door that is what I should get. It was only when I asked to speak to Johannes or James that it got sorted. So the outcome is I currently have a small door and a bent stiff door pin , but on 9th April another Mr Omlet will come out and replace it with the big door. ...it just takes the edge off after waiting and looking forward to it, but I guess I will get over it. Tracy ...and now I have noticed that the whole run underneath the cube is bowing in under pressure - neither of the metal cube legs are actually touching the ground so the whole weight of the cube is being supported taken by the run! Another call to Omlet in the morning I think. Edited March 12, 2009 by Guest
Guest
oh no...hopefully omlet will do their usual good sending out replacement bits. The lady i visited to look at a cube said she had a faulty wheel and a replacement was send out next day no quibbles. You think a company would inform people ie on recon cubes that they would not get new door..or give u a bit extra off. Let us know how u get it sorted as I am awaiting my cube and hate reading these problems ..its worrying! Want to be reassured so fingers crossed. indie

brambles
Glad it's got to you. Mine arrived a day early yesterday whilst I was at work. It's a recon but with the larger door. It has arrived without the separator between roosting area and nest box and various other little bits were missing. My two new girls are settling in with some pecking, the big merge happens soon. Hope your issues get sorted.

TAJ
Night one, despite putting them in the cube, not the run initially they 100% failed to find it again to go to sleep - even the light didn't work. So given small door I got my daughter to climb in to get them and put them to bed - no joy, so then I joined her in the run and put them to bed. This morning they were very vocal and still in the cube, but soon came down for some mixed corn, but I am sure they will get the hang of it soon. The photos - firstly the new patio & fence - hubby thinks it is wasted on chickens! http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii49/TAJchicks/IMG_2161.jpg He thinks the view would make it a nice seating area. http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii49/TAJchicks/IMG_2163.jpg ...but I think the cube fits well in the space http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii49/TAJchicks/IMG_2166.jpg Here are the girls, not looking bad 18 months old http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii49/TAJchicks/IMG_2168.jpg ...and I know how much you like seeing their fluffy knickers http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii49/TAJchicks/IMG_2167.jpg So lets hope the problems get sorted sooner rather than later. TAJ
ahhh great pictures!, my youngest son likes your 'white one' She's my fussy pure breed, she actually is a very pretty chicken that is a good layer, but she is vocal - anyone lays and she lets me know and it was her at 6.30 this morning (mum I cann't get down the ladder) that tried waking up the whole street. TAJ
looks great and the new fenced area is very smart You may notice the climber on the wall - it is OH vine for making red wine - I just hope the grapes are not too low because the girls will not understand 'do not eat the grapes!' Cooks
I think that grape vine might be their little snack area
Ain't Nobody Here
Lovely photos . Your girls are lovely . I agree with you, that patio is infinitely more suited to a cube than seating .

TAJ
After the girls fuss this morning an hour later they all went back inside and all laid - so obviously the cube experience has only stressed me not them! They also took themselves to bed today. Tracy
