Tiggy
I'm scared to death, i finally found a local dentist that will take NHS patients, the hygenist cost me £36 and the xrrays check and extraction is costing £44 so not too bad I suppose. i was hit in the face with a hockey stick when i was 14 an my front bottom tooth has been wobbly ever since, over the last 34 years it has become so loose that I though it would just fall out but all it has done is wear away the socket and my gum and leeps getting infected. I'm going wed lunchtime I hate the local into the gum, Im good at sticking needles into other people but not so brave on the receiving end

Tessa the Duchess
I am scared of the dentist too...shudder. I had to have a loose tooth removed about a year ago, and it was so painless I didn't even realise it was out Hope yours goes as smoothly. BeckyBoo
Yes, I faced my fear last year, first trip to the detist for about 25 years for the most awful toothache and an extraction. And it was nowhere near as bad as I expected. Good luck, having said it's not that bad it's not on my list of things to do every day BeckyBoo
LisaP
I don't envy you, I hate the dentist too However I had to have an extraction a couple of years ago and like most people have said, it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I'd feared Just make sure you've got enough pain relief for once your face "thaws" out Lisa P
Olly
Agree with everyone else here - having a tooth out is relatively easy (compared to root canal, apicectomy and dental implant work! ) and I didn't find it hurt too much afterwards either. As yours is loose anyway, it will probably be even easier. Take some ibuprofen or similar BEFORE the local anaesthetic wears off. Good luck, it'll be over before you know it. ubereglu
Good Luck, I'm sure it will be fine and you don't really feel anything in your mouth when you're given local anaesthetic. I had to have a tooth out last year, it's not too bad, you just have a fat lip for a bit! Get some bonjela in too, so that when/if it starts to hurt you can numb it again. kitbag
I had to have 8 teeth out before I could have my braces!! It's not that bad and that's coming from the girl that has a serious phobia of dentists and needles!! It's quite fun afterwards with a numb mouth! Just don't try to drink. Guest
it won't be as bad as when you had your ankle op so try and remember the pain of that and you'll be able to bear anything the dentist throws at you! (well, except maybe the bill)
fluffyknickers
I had my wisdom teeth out and as i was so scared the dentist gave me some diazapam to take the night before i went to bed and in the morning before i went to have it done. I didnt care about anything! Also, when it came to paying after I couldnt write the cheque nor sign it so had to go back another day to pay !!! Hope it goes well. (well, except maybe the bill) I know I'm being silly really, I just shudder at the thought of the needle going into my gum, after that ankle op I should be able to cope with just about anything
chickencam
Good luck to you, just think no more infections they must be painful in themselves. My cat is having one of her canine teeth out today and they told us that it is a really big job because they have such long roots
jess
Hey you will be fine!! it would be worse if you had a bigger tooth out like a molar which i had done over a week ago and it still hurts butonly because it was such a big tooth. you will be fine xxxxxx
Tiggy
the deed has been done, local anesthetics are much better than I rememeber, worked really quickly and wore off again quickly, the tooth was popped out in seconds, I still hate having those injections tho! I'm now known as gappy at home until my bridge is sorted out

feemcg
Glad it went well for you.......I couldn't post earlier as I had nothing positive to say after my experience 2 weeks ago. I just stopped taking painkillers yesterday and still playing with my stitches that haven't dissolved yet .
