BeckyBoo
Hi there, I got our four a year ago in January, so they've had 14 months with me, that said I've only got two left but they're both going strong although most of their eggs are soft now. I actually vaguely recall seeing someone post about ex-batts they'd had for three years or so..... BeckyBoo
Guest
we got 4 in oct 2007, 3 of them are still with us so that's 17 months so far
sparkysmum
Hi We've had ours 9mths now They're fit, healthy and laying everyday. I read somewhere that 4+ yrs is not unusual
Nicola O
I got my three in April 2007. I lost one last November, but the other two are still going strong 23 months later - although neither of them lay anymore. Nicola.
Karen & co.
I got my rescue girls in 2007 even though we only have Fairy now, she still crouches for me now and again, but I think she just pretends Karen x
Egluntyne
I rescued my three ex batts, Ola, Lilia and Flavia, 4 days short of a year ago and they are still in fine fettle.
Lydia
Bartel and Hatpin were rescued in May 2007 and both are still going strong. Bartel still pops out the odd egg too. Volty was rescued September 2007 and is still with us. Sadly her 2 pals that she came with only lasted 7 and 8 months. My other ex-bats are youngsters compared to those. dancing cloud
Gosh - some of them still going strong after nearly 2 years! Well done all of them (and their humans) I thought my little monsters were doing well, with all six of them reaching 10 months of freedom today, but they're just juveniles in comparison. I hope they (and their new ex-batt little sisters being adopted on Saturday) all live happy free lives for a very long time yet

sandyhas3chucks
Oh yes! Sorry Was thinking it was November the year AFTER! Well done that Flump. Can we have a photo please. WOW 28 months what a proud Mum she must have!!! So glad I asked the question
dancing cloud
I'm glad you asked too! There are so many rumours about ex-batts living only a short time that it's great to be able to show this isn't inevitably the case. The prospect of my little monsters still being spoiled demanding madams this time next year has really cheered up my day!

cathybc
I got my ex-batts a year ago this weekend. They are laying less but still seem robust, healthy and very cheeky!
Egluntyne
I got mine a year ago today. That went quickly.
Janty
We rescued five ex-batts in December 2007. We have two still going strong. In fact after seven months of not laying and Mistletoe piling on the pounds, she started laying again ten days ago and we have had a huge egg every day since, bless her. Scooby
Our 'pink ladies' Rizzo, Frenchy, Marty and Jan were rescued a year gone yesterday! And they still lay almost every day.
P&P
Not quite the oldest on here, but three of the four we rescued in June 2007 are still going strong, though eggs from them are very rare now. They're all looking quite plump and well. They've just been joined by four newcomers, rescued last week.
SLK69
Hey Scooby - we met at that rescue last year, I have still 4 of the 5 ex-batts going strong and laying 3 a day between the four of them so not bad at all. A bit over run with eggs at the moment, between the whole flock - Hoping to have the oldest ex-batt hen in the history of hens Though maybe not, I accidently shut pesky hen in the garage yesterday for a couple of hours and you can guess what happened to the husbands motorbike :-0 I think I heard the words 'chicken soup' heheheheheee S
Scooby
hey susie of course I remember - glad the girls are doing ok, I remember it was a while ago when you lost one . Hubby been laughing at the name 'pesky' and we were wondering what you named your other girlies?
cathybc
just wondered how all the ex-batts are doing? Hermione has now been free for 25 months and has been keeping me, the rabbits and cats all in check in the garden this lovely afternoon!
