flowerangelk8x
I'm sorry its a disgusting subject, but is it ok for dogs to eat my chicken poo? they are obsessed!!! when the chickens are free ranging the dogs don't bother the girls at all, (i'm really greatful for that) they just follow them round and eat up the poo as it appears.....gros
splodge88
Hahaa that sounds hilarious...but it probably isn't. Dogs sometimes eat their own (escpecially puppies), but i'm not so sure that its good for them to be eating chicken's poo...
cluckbok
Eewwww!! I'm so glad I've just finished my cheese and bacon pasta bake! That's odd! Perhaps ask your vet if it's ok, long term thing! I too have heard them eating their own but not anyone elses! Mind you when my parents had a puppy years ago it ran in the field and ate horse muk! Redwing
Mine eats loads and lis fine, the dog eats worse junk than the chickens so there can't be too much bad in the poo so I think why fight it?
Dodge77
My dog follows the tortoise scooping up her mess - dirty blighter !
Kittycat
I have a Labrador who will hoover up any kind of pooh He's such a lovely dog in all other respects but just can't help himself. Depending on the constitution of your dog, it's unlikely to do any harm (although if your chickens have worms, that's a different matter) but I do try and clear away most of the chicken poop before Otto ventures into the garden - in fact, it's my kids self-appointed job to bounce around the garden on their spacehoppers with a trowel each, flicking the chicken poop into the borders
aaronmusgrove123
mine do that they also eat rabbit poo and their own

Cooks
I have one here also, in her defence she's a pup but it is gross! My spaniel wouldn't degrade herself.. LOL Suzi also was caught chomping on a dead shrew/mouse today *shudder*
cluckbok
Yeah just make sure the dog doesn't give you a little doggy kiss after it's been in the garden
kerrie
Yep my puppy does the same with our chicken poo and has been known to have a noosy round the cat litter box-but only on days when the chickens haven't been free ranging much for some reason. Pleased its not just my puppy!
Griffin
All three of my dogs eat chicken poo. They even try to squeeze their heads through the Omlet netting for a particularly succulent looking one. They're gross! And I thought I'd seen it all in terms of grossness but Tallulah gave the dogs a run for their money this afternoon. Henry (Jack Russell) piddled on the ground, it left a little puddle and Tallulah started drinking it!
Guest
Our boxer thinks that chicken poo is a delicacy
urbanchick
Oh yes, we have a revolting terrier that hoovers up any leftovers on the lawn. I asked my vet who just laughed and said it wouldn't do him any harm. Trouble is, it's not his breath that smells.....
miffy
another chicken poo eater here, our springer, follows the girls around...I guess she prefers fresh poo

chiocciare
Mac, my Bearded Collie also thinks chicken poo is a delicacy. The amazing thing is since the chooks arrived in july his coat has improved no end, a lovely long shiney coat. Its either the chicken poo or the layers mash thats done it
tania
my 2 whippets love eating chicken poo, they think it's caviar! They also love fox and badger poo, rolling in it as well as eating it just so they get the whole effect. YUK YUK
helen5848
Fortunately, although my dog will eat practically anything she hasn't yet become a fan of chicken poo - although she's the first in the run at night when I move it to sweep up - she's quick too grab any treats that my girlies might have missed - half nibbled bread, left over cereal etc
sparkysmum
Have to agree, my dogs just love chick poo. Sparky didn't bother until Daisy arrived a month ago ( Yorkie puppy ,pics soon ) but it's funny what a bit of competition does !!!!!. If only Daisy would eat her puppy food with the same enthusiasm Daisy also loves frozen rabbit droppings (ice lollies for dogs )
