Pigs for Easter...

Recommended Posts

...after much organisation and filling in forms, we picked up our two weaners yesterday.

I thought you'd all like to see a picture of them :) ...

... the ginger one is a Tamworth (Bert) and the spotted one is a Gloucester Old Spot (Ernie). They are both 7 weeks old and spent most of today enjoying the sunshine.

More photos to follow on the blog below ...

They are getting a bit more curious and trusting now - one week on - and seem to want to know what the camera is!

... I think my collection of pig pictures is going to rival my collection of chicken pictures.

Thanks for your comments - love to see pictures of other peoples hogs!

... I know - they are sooo cool. :D

We have just under an acre in the New Forest - have a gander at the blog below and you can see what we have been doing with it.

There was a lot of discussion about the names, but I loved Bert and Ernie. Hopefully we will not regret naming them when it comes to the point that they need to go to Pig heaven in 6-7 months time...

I think you might be right, Lesley, Ernie may well be a Sandy and Black - I thought that they said Old Spot, but thought 'I shall look stupid  if I challenge him - but surely a Gloucester has less spots and is pinker?'.

I shall have to ask my friend who knows a bit more about them than me...

That is why I thought he may be an OSB rather than a GOS. GOS do have only a few spots. He'll taste good, whichever he is :D
