As most of you know I do sew a lot, but I've never really had any formal training. So last year I booked myself onto a patchwork course. I've really been enjoying it! We are making a s"Ooops, word censored!" quilt - made up of blocks, set on point (as diamonds rather than squares) using different techniques in each one. All will hopefully go together at the end to make a quilt. I'm afraid my fabric choices were a bit uninspired as I have been trying to use up s"Ooops, word censored!"s rather than buy new. These are what I've done so far:

Having tried patchwork for the first time (for Plums mystery wall hanging instructions) I can appreciate how hard it is to get each piece the same size and corners to meet. I think I would probably benefit from some expert class tuition

That is going to be beautiful, well done. I started making sample blocks like those from s"Ooops, word censored!"s left from my box making days. Its still my favourite quilt in soft colours like yours.

Thanks for the encouragement I'm OK at the technical side - sewing and constructing - but I really struggle with putting colours together! I hope it will look OK together!

I wasn't sure about the solid blue in it but when I looked at the fabrics you have one with that colour blue flowers so it's going to work fine.

The blue with the pink antique roses on is my old bridesmaid material!!! 16 yrs old that material!!

Supertastic! The beauty of patchwork is you're supposed to use up all your s"Ooops, word censored!"s. I love pink and green together. So timeless and springlike. It looks fab Snowy!

You'd be surprised how many - some nice and easy, others horribly intricate! I have a book that has 5,500 designs! Quite a few are variations on a theme. I have EQ6 software which helps you design, work out yardage requirements, templates and all sorts. I can play on that all day - you can add your own fabric to play with a design. Very addictive - just never get around to sewing them.

You've been busy!!! I think I might try a bit of quilting over the holidays as we have loads and loads of fabric under the stairs and I've got a really long summer ahead!
