Hens@HalfMoonLane
I would suggest going to a dress maker too. My friend who I was a bridesmaid had our bridesmaid dresses made by a dress maker and when something is made to measure it is so much more flattering. They can work from a picture of description. They were loads cheaper too than buying from a shop. We used the same dressmaker alot after that to make ballgowns for us. I'm sure your wedding will be a special day. We only had 2 witnesses parents and a brother to ours and it couldn't have been more special. However since we only gave 2 weeks notice no one got new outfits. When we turned up at the registry office my husband said "your dad has come dressed as rain man" and I replied with "since when has you dad dressed as a Eddie Stobart lorry driver", put that with the glam rock brother and the MIL who got in the middle for all the photos and you've got it. If I ever get the courage I'll post the photo of the Adams Family wedding.
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Post the pic!! I have emailed about dress number three in emerald. I really like it, it would suit my shape and I love green and would get some wear out of it after. Hope it's not too expensive!
Minnie the Moocher
Congratulations! Love that sagey green colour. It looks FABULOUS in slipper satin.
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Doh. Ignoramus here - what's slipper satin? They call that fabric in the third pic bobbinet...
Guest
there's so many love;y dresses on there, I'm really liking this one too http://www.foreverbridals.com/gownpix.asp?Style=74207
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
I like that one, but I have big bosoms, and those sort of dresses on me can look a bit like a couple of zeppelins having a collision! I'd be worried about slippage too. Some kind of strap/halter is safer!
Snowy
I love that halter neck style one as well! Definitely a good one for a generous figure! Doesn't look a difficult style to make either. Download a pic and get some quotes from local seamstresses. I'd love to have a go at something like that but it's been donkey's years since I made a dress! Minnie the Moocher
Halterneck = gorgeous! Slipper satin is that lovely not-too-shiny satin, that looks a bit like peach skin... if you know what I mean.
ClaireG
Congratulations. I love the style of the dress you like . Ring wise, a friend of mine had one made for her at the jewellery quater in Birmingham. She had her great grandmothers engagement ring but didn't like the setting and wanted a couple more stones. The jeweller helped her design the ring as well as making it for her.
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Snowy I'd love to have a bash at making a dress but am scared of ruining expensive cloth. It's been 18 years since I made formal gowns! Good plan Claire G - I could try there or Hatton. I am kind of drawn to the idea of a secondhand ring though. Bit of history (although that could include divorce and all sorts too!) and all that.
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
I've found a local supplier, it comes with the dolly bag (for the dolly bag fans - or the vodka bag as the lady in the shop calls it!) and it's a bargain at £150. I'd balk at that for a normal dress but for a wedding dress - MEGA YAY! http://www.foreverbridals.com/gownpix.asp?Style=78118 Will definitely go for one of the greens. Emerald or a sagey green I think. Will decide when I see them in the flesh.

Mutrix Farmers
many congratulations Chicky! Love the dress! Wish you every success finding the ideal ring! I love the sound of your wedding, when OH and I got married we sort of got pushed into the type of traditional wedding by our parents (we were both quite young and they were paying for it!), but it wasn't "our" day at all!! craftyhunnypie
Go & do it in India like we did! Dress = 6 yards of sari material! Traditionally red & gold, but you could have green! Just you & hubby on a beach, Simple flower garlands. What more could you want? We had a Hindu wedding, not the traditional English as don't believe a lot of the Christian faith & wanted something diverse & different. I love our wedding photos - so bright, colourful & unusual memories forever! Best bits were saying our promises tied to each other whilst walking round the fire 7 times. Throwing rice at each other ( literally lobbing it) Hubby reciting a load of sentences in Hindi - hilarious! Offering gifts to the gods & blessing a coconut Feeding each other Indian sweets Henna on hands The sunset Amazing! ( Emma now goes off dreaming.....haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah).x
