PurpleTree
Hi We're going camping in Holland in June for 2 weeks. We're staying here http://www.eurocamp.co.uk/index.cfm?fuseaction=campsites.resortoverview&mastercode=41&ver=1%20 We've been trying to work out how much spending money to take. Are things expensive in Holland? Our last holiday abroad was camping in Spain a couple of years ago and we found most things were cheaper there. Our main expense will be food, we're hoping we'll be able to entertain ourselves and the kids quite cheaply otherwise, there are 4 swimming pools on site and a beach nearby. Has anyone been to the area? Any other hints or tips welcome. Edited April 24, 2009 by Guest
Guest
we've been to Amsterdam, it was quite reasonable but then again it gets a lot of student types and young people going there (for obvious reasons) so there were plenty of budget places to eat and stay etc Not sure about the area you're going to but I don't imagine it's going to be expensive in and around a family holiday parc. Have fun!
craftyhunnypie
Ha ha - Been Amsterdam! Hire a bike there! just watch the coffee shops with their special chocolate mini muffins! It's very nice, very pretty houses. Nice shops for crafters & I seem to remember lots of cheap shoes over there. You have to view the red light district - it's unbelievable! Worth a glimspe out of the corner of your eye. The boat trips are also nice! Emma.x

BERTIE MCSQUIRTY
yes - i used to live there, in roermond which is on the east coast of holland bordering germany. that is probably about 1/2 hour from amsterdam on the train, a very nice area, loads to do. campsites in holland are second to none, usually exeptionally clean, with good food on offer. mostly everyone speaks english, so there shouldn't be a language barrier

The site is near Delft too, which always looks pretty on the telly, so fancy a trip there. Apparently the Holland Festival is being held in Amsterdam while we're there, I don't what it is but I suspect it'll make it busier than usual (?) Anyone know how much a large glass of beer might cost? I guess it depends where you go.
little chickadee
Have a lovely time. I've been but it was only on a music tour with the county youth windband about 18 years ago, so I can't be much help! Really nice country though. Really must go back sometime
Kirstine
I went to Amsterdam in January. The main problem was the exchange rate rather than the prices. At the time 1 Euro cost about 97p. I kept thinking 'this would be a very reasonably priced X [coffee, meal, tram-ride, museum etc.] if the Euro was at 65p like it should be!' I think the exchange rate has settled down a bit now. Ain't Nobody Here
We went to a holiday park (Landal GreenParks) in Holland a few years ago with the kids . Loved it and don't remember it being expensive at all (it can't have been too bad or I would probably have remembered!)
Seagazer
I went to Holland as a child at primary school and remember it being absolutely beautiful and clean. Went to Amsterdam a few years ago with the family and had a wonderful weekend. Great people and relaxed country. Enjoy your holiday.
