Rehoming Request

Recommended Posts

A while ago, Rosie died leaving Ruby on her own. After much thought, I have decided not to replace Rosie as I want to stop keeping chickens. Whilst I would love to keep Ruby, I have to accept it's not fair to keep her on her own :( and I owe it to her to get her rehomed with other chickens. I have tried local contacts and local farm parks etc, but with no success.

If someone would like Ruby, please let me know. She is a beautiful ginger nut ranger, 13 months old and currently lays at about 3 eggs a week. She is a lovely hen and I only want her to go to a good home where she will be loved. (she will love you as soon as you feed her a worm!)

I am located in south Cheshire and happy to drive a reasonable distance to rehome her in a good home.

Please let me know if you can help,

Thank you

BooBoo (and Ruby)

Whereabouts are you in Cheshire? I currently have 5 chickens but have a spare eglu...I can't promise at this stage as am a bit worried about introducing 1 chicken to so many. But if you can't find anyone else I will certainly think about it.

Hi - have pm'd you. My sister will definitely have her. I'd have to collect her for her. She will live a lovely life on the farm near Bridgemere with lots of other chickens & Roy the cockerel!

Just waiting for your reply. :D

Just a quick note to say thank you to everyone on this thread, especially Emma and her sister. I agree with Sheila - I can't think of a better home for Ruby!

I dropped Ruby off this evening and was so relieved she was going to such a good home - I'm sure Ruby will have a fantastic life with all the other hens :D

Thanks Emma :D

Hi,

Well I then took Ruby to my sisters and we placed her in one of the chicken houses. She was soon eating her pellets & venturing out the door to mix with the others!

Roy the Vorwerk cockerel took a liking to her & was very protective of her.

However, Patsy (funny name) the silkie cockerel is her best friend & they stuck together all the time. She's mixed with all the other girlies & was the last to go to bed, along with her silkie cockerel boyfriend.

She jumped on her perch & was trying to huddle up to Frieda, a silkie girlie - whilst her boyfriend was thinking about joining her. Bless.

She's a lovely hen - very chirpy / talkative. Makes lovely little trumpeting noises.

My sister is very very pleased with her.

Thank you Bethany!

Hope my funny farm mad house didn't scare you too much!

P.S - will put up photos in a bit!

I was just wondering that as well. Does the presence of the boys make a difference?
