I'm growing sunflowers, love them. I've put two different types, the normal big yellow one, and one that's browney, red-y, orangey colours. I hope they all come up anyway.

My mum's got a greenhouse full of things, so will probably get some green beans off her, and possibly some tomato plants.

I'm having to plant everything in my front garden this year though, so they're safe from the chickens.

I've done a bit of seed planting recently, with the help(?) of my children.

Sunflowers, Sweetpeas, cherry toms, big toms, cucumbers, lettuce, runner beans, carrots, turnips, melons, sweetcorn, beetroots and radishes. Also onions and pots - not quite seeds!

Have been busy lately planting plenty of veg seeds in preparation for my new raised beds that are going to be built hopefully in two weeks time. Pototoes are doing very well and aim to plant more this weekend.

Its ironic that I'm restarting this just as my kids leave home. :(:?:)

My hubby's grandson and I are planting a pumpkin seed on Saturday from which he will have a lantern for Halloween. ( I've bought a pumpkin plant as a backstop, though he won't know that):whistle::whistle:

I had to replace my daughter's sunflower last year that she had grown at school with a spare that I had grown when the slugs ate it. :shh:

We grow most of our stuff from seed, I am a bit behind with flowers this year but we have loads of veg done. The only things that we buy as plants are tomatoes so that we get a range of varieties without buying loads of seed, cucmbers, couregettes and pumpkins because again we only want a few plants.

After creating a large "chicken proof" (well, only one got in once so far...) veggie plot, we have sown:

4 types tomatoes

Spinach

2 types of Cabbage

2 types of lettuce

2 types of runnerbeans

Sweetcorn

Squash

Marrow

Sweet peppers

Chilli peppers

Carrots are going in this weekend.

The Gooseberry bush is looking full of fruit, and the early blueberry bush also looks as though it will have a reasonable crop. And this year I have netted over the fruit from wild birds already, to avoid losing a load of the fruit like I did last year...

Fingers crossed for a productive season!!

A yellow plant I've grown successfully from seed in the past is Thunbergia (Black Eyed Susan). It climbs (or trails) and flowered prolifically as I recall!

So far I've got: parsnip and beetroot in the ground (nothing showing yet :( )

In the greenhouse: tomatoes, courgettes, butternut squash, sweetcorn and cucumbers

Hollyhocks and lavender

On my bedroom windowsill (really should be pricked out and in the greenhouse/veg bed by now) more hollyhocks, leeks and aubergines

In the kitchen on the windowsill: parsley, basil, catnip and gaillardia.

The catnip, hollyhocks, and gaillardia are for my new summer-flowering border, and I'm going to sow nigella and gypsophila straight into the ground... if can ever get round to it!
