Ain't Nobody Here

Ungrateful little minxes

Recommended Posts

I was in Pets at Home yesterday getting dog food and treats for Oscar and thought "I can't leave my girlies out :) ". Spotted a pack of "10 Sun-Ripened Corn - full of natural goodness", on little plastic hangers. Ideal, I thought, they love corn on the cob :D . Cost £5 ish but that's only 50p per cob.

Hung one up. Waited. Waited some more. No interest whatsoever :evil: .

Today I went into the run and took it down.

"AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHH, she's got evil chicken-eating corn on the cob  . RUUUUUUUNNNN".

Tried pinging bits of corn off for them. They had a look but wouldn't eat it  .

I'm trying soaking one in hot water to see if that'll make a difference. Oscar now has one too  . Wonder if Riley would like one :wink: .

Noooooooo Riley mustn't have one! Dogs cannot digest the cob, it gets stuck in their stomach and can kill them. I'm always extra careful with my chooks because they love corn on the cob and my dogs will snaffle anything they leave so I clear up after them when they've had it.

Your girls make me laugh though, they're so silly

Yes, my ex-batts can be a bit ungrateful too! Gave them some of my best purple sprouting broccoli (about my favourite vegetable) and they turned their noses up. They just want grapes.

I shall steer clear of corn on the cob, then. :)

I got the very same thing for my girls and they snubbed it too, even when I picked it off - but I left it for ages and eventually picked some off again and then it started to go down.

I left it a week or so and thought I'd give it another go, and Beaky flew up to it and pecked it like mad to the point that I couldn't even hang it up, I just chucked it in and left it, and it was gone in 10 minutes flat :!:

I think they just hadn't figured it out yet but they're making up for it now!:lol::lol:

hi

my neighbour bought the dried corn on the cob for her rabbit and as he didn't like it she passed it over the fence for my chooks :D:D alas they too turned their noses up at it, i think it was a bit too hard for them so i sent it over to my friend guniea pigs :? haven't heard anything. :eh: maybe they're telling us something ( there's no substitute for the fresh stuff):roll:

they didn't like brocolli but they to like grapes to the point of fighting for them.

i like to cut up corn and skewer it to the lawn and watch them for ages with them :D:D

I know we should not spoill them... but i do lightly cook the broccoli before i hang ot up - mine wont entertain the frightening raw broccoli but love it cooked!

My lot don't do gratitude either

Bought them a box of peckablocks nearly a year ago and they still haven't eaten the first two. Gave my friends a couple at Christmas for their chickens and they'd all gone by Boxing day

My lot love their corn (though it has to be fed by hand not just thrown on the floor), would kill for grapes, and otherwise just want anything I might be eating  (Don't even get me started on the whole "let's work as a team and steal her doughnut" saga  !)
