My ES 13 gets in before me and YS as he walks to school. As I pulled into the drive tonight he was very excitable and twitchy. i asked him what was wrong and it appears that 3 men acting strangely had eyeballed him from end of drive and he'd got worried and was trying to get cat in, he had a golf club in his hand. He looked wild eyed and said " the Mexicans were here" I asked if they were wearing ponchos and sombreros and he fixed me with a look reserved for lower life forms.

To give him his due they had jumped out of one car into another - so photigraphed remaining car with mobile and calmed him down. it appears he was worried for cats safety i advised him cat would run away and hide but in future he must go inside lock doors and if worried call police or me . I am proud he is so fond of his animals but told him his safety is paramount. He is a brown belt in karate but that is beside the point. The fact he was convinced they were Mexican somehow made me think he was being a little over the top. hes a toughie but I forget hes still a child and my baby ( yup I'm soppy) at the end of the day

no idea at all what goes thro his little mind He was regaling his mates with it and they were hooting with laughter I think he was a bit scared despite his bravado. He is very entertaining and he and his mates make me laugh. you hear so many negative things about teenagers but at present they are lovely. Long may it last

My ES is almost 17 and is lovely, I have to say . Out with friends last night, one was saying how her ES has turned lovely all of a sudden and is now helpful and friendly. I was secretly proud that my ES has been like that all along . (He still bullies his little brother but never mind .)

Aren't they great? and bless him for worrying about the cat! my eldest, who thinks she is very streetwise, was at her friend's house a couple of years ago when they were 13. They rang her friend's mum virtually hysterical saying they had found cannabis on the kitchen floor and didn't want to touch it. Her mum of course told them not to be silly and to put the suspect substance in a saucer till she got home. It was a teabag the kitten had decimated!

They are not all bad - I've heard 2 stories recently where boys have helped old ladies who have had falls - one of them said she was really scared of him at first because he was wearing his hoody on his head.

 

Shame they get lumped in with the others who think nothing of "being done for assault", breaking other kids jaws, noses etc. etc.

I have to say that my ES and his friends (and my YS) are all lovely lads. One of them even ended up helping me clean up after ES's 18th birthday (wasn't my son I'm afraid but hey ho you can't have everything )

Our cats (we hve 2) a soppy ginger tom and ES adores him - he loves both but they have a bond. GT sleeps on his bed and walks all over him in the night. We now think the car which is a London transport cab has been in a crash as OH said back is totally smashed in and I think they were doing a runner and were alarmed by ES staring at them. Bless - all he wanted was his kitty to be safe. There is hope for the next generation - and yes he wears a hoodie - come to think of it so do I

My MIL has a hoody. I think she fits the stereotype! Well, she thinks she's a teenager and I really don't like her. DS is 19 next month. Everyone tells me he is lovely. I only get odd glimpses.

hoodies are very practical - you dont get a draught down your neck. They get a bad press because of the thugs - manufacturers should invent one that if you stand on street corners for any length of time the seam round neck comes apart and lets in the wind If I had my way I'd slob around in a hoodie, doc martens or trainers and cropped jeans and I'm only 47 Unfortunately my ES love him thinks hes the next Gok Wan and tells me off for wearing shapeless clothes. hes right of course i look slimmer in nice jeans and fitted tops - just like being scruffy

Er, MIL also has a shell suit! DS always has a hoody on under his trenchcoat! I only have one in my possession - would like more, but longer

Oh dear - never had a shell suit and dont really fancy one either. I confess in my yuff to having a puffball skirt, ra ra skirt and jumpsuit - which are making a comeback but unless they make them for pearshaped ladies with long legs I wont be in one sighs of relief all round

he sounds lovely, I agree not all teens are bad, I love my DS friends they're all 17 -18 they are so much fun, polite & helpful having them around is a joy. Mummmm I wonder what they are buttering me up for
