Redwing
That looks well made What a great idea to provide an overspill nest box It might benefit from being a bit darker if its for laying, I read somewhere that if you hang a strip of material three quarters across the opening a hen will happily squeeze by to lay an egg in the dark See how it goes and if they don't use it maybe try that
Plum
Love the nest coop. Have they used it.

Sky
That looks lovely - would love to know whether it has been used yet? Also, on a different subject I noticed that you have the half size trug for a dustbath. I have tried to get one of these locally but haven't managed yet - where did you get yours please? I am in Rettendon. Jenny

quickcluck
Hi Sky.... It came from Altons garden centre on the A127 do you know it?
Yolky
Ohhh that is lovely. My husband knocked up something for the girls to lay in when I had the broody but the fussy girls just shoved the broody over and layed in her nest rather than using what my husband had made, cheeky madams. The broody didn't mind, she just snuck all the extra eggies under her lol!
Jules.
Looks really good. I have the same trug, but my girls never use it to dustbathe in
Barkisland
You can buy the trugs online from here http://www.containerama.com/ if that's any help to anyone. Love the extra nestbox quickcluck, but I think Redwing is right about it needing to be darker and more 'private' - could it be turned to face towards the wall? quickcluck
To be honest I hadn't thought about the light aspect of it at all think that makes me a baaaaaaaad mummy. they have been in to investigate... but I will turn it or would it be better in a dark corner? I have one behind the cube that's always in shade and cooler.......
Scramble
It's very pweety
Budgies
It looks great!! I'd make it as dark as possible - not only will it encourage them to use it for laying, but if they can't see the egg once they've laid it, you're much less likely to start getting egg eating going on, which is a difficult habit to break. What a clever chap you have!!
