missuscluck
they are a strain of cross breed hen bred for mass egg laying. I have got 3. They are bred from Warren hens but not sure what they have been crossed with. They are just brown hens that look like gingernut rangers. Snowy
Effectively, the hylines/warrens/isas/rangers are pretty much the same bird - RIR cockerel to light or white sussex hen. Hyline is the commercial company that breeds them. Each company has developed it's own flocks of RIRs and sussex to maximise the desirable traits and these bear little resemblance to 'show standard' RIR and sussex birds. Jillus
I have a Hyline and she is the sweetest, nice natured chicken that you could ever hope for. Hybrids often are, they are the type bred for short term/intensive laying and are very grateful for a nice loving chickeny home!
