ubereglu
Our internet connection seems to have got a virus and I was just wondering whether there was any free downloadable anti-virus programs available online. We can get on the internat, but when we use hotmail it crashes. Also, a very random question but it's my first time using oil paints and I wondered whther if anyone knew how long they take to dry properly? Mrs Frugal
I use AVG Anti-virus and it's the one my brother recommended I use. He's an IT bod and I trust his judgement and it's not let us down so far. You can download it free from this site - http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1 We also have Zone Alarm as our firewall and e-mail protection which also has a free version - http://www.download.com/3000-2092-10039884.html
Guest
AVG is the dog's B******s - it won't let you down... and it doesn't take over your entire machine like that horrid bloatware called Norton Phil
Mrs Frugal
It's certainly been superb for us. It found viruses lurking in our system when we first installed it and keeps us clear now. We've got various free spyware programmes installed too but I can't remember what they're called !
Jools
OMG what's wrong with Norton? I've used it for ages??????
ubereglu
Thank you! Will definitely keep that in mind and get Dad to download it tonight as our internet is rubbish at the minute.
debbie
Hi noeglu Oil paints can take a long time to dry, depending on the thicknes of the paint applied. Basically the thicker the paint the longer it takes to dry. So it could take a few days to a few weeks. The time of year can have an effect too. Are you painting on canvas or card ?? hope this helps. Guest
I and all my family use AVG free software and we have had no problems. It's really good and automatically updates itself every day. I'd recommend it too!
Cinnamon
A good free spyware prog I use is Adaware - a search should show it up. Its really worth installing. I use Norton - not free, but I like it
Guest
I use Adaware too. It sometimes shows up things which AVG hasn't found.

ubereglu
Our computer really is playing up now, never mind though I have internet for up to an hour at the library. So will have to trudge into town until computer is sorted. Freezes and lots of errors-fun! The oil paint seems to have started drying nicely since yesterday and I will add some good detail onto it when it's done. Unfortunately I on't be able to enter the carve a pumpkin competition now unless I post an entry to them. And do it now!!!
