smanners
Poor Jump one of our ex batts had to be put to sleep this evening after succumbing to egg peritonitis She had laid a lot of dodgy eggs since we rescued her and I think her poor laying tackle was worn out She had become quite poorly over the weekend and despite treatment and lots of TLC our vet put her to sleep tonight. Although we are very sad at least we are comforted by the fact she had 6 months of free ranging and experienced real chicken life.

Guest
poor poppet, so sorry to hear this. I've lost 2 girls the same way but, like you say, they enjoyed several months of happiness and proper chicken life xxx
smanners
Will you be getting more ex-batts? I wouldn't hesitate in getting more ex-batts in the future they are such a delight and soooooooooooo friendly Unfortunately they only come in 3's and we just don't have any space at the moment. It's so sad that they've had such tough start in life which leaves some of them so worn out and vunerable . Thank you to everyone for your kind wishes RIP Jump
