cost of feed !!!!!

Recommended Posts

I've been away for 2 wks and my girls have cleverly conned my lovely neighbour into feeding them twice as much as normal, naughty girls  so the sack of mash that normally lasts a month has gone, so because I needed more supplies quickly I went to our local farm shop. the price of feed has doubled  I had to get a bag, a small one costed £2 before I went away now costs £4.20, what on earth is going on? I have ordered a large bag on line from Omlet which still seems to cost the same (no price increase)

You do need to shop around. I was paying over £12 for a 20kg sack of pellets, but it's under £7 in the place I go now.

Is it a long time since you bought any feed? It rose astronomically last year, but the price seems to have stabilized now.

Hi Tiggy

Where was that from?

Was it Greenforge at Mile Flat? That's where i've been getting mine and they are dearer than TFM but the girls definitely prefer the Dodson and Horrell to Small holder.

I noticed the bales of shavings had also jumped in price last time I went.

If it wasn't Greenforge I'll give them a call and find out what they're charging.

thanks everyone, I haven't bought feed from the farm shop for ages so that price increase for a tiny bag was a shock, I've been getting big bags from wiggly wigglers but their deliveries can take a long time. I'm off to Ludlow at the weekend so will call in at country wide

We pay around £10 for organic feed from Thorne's. I think it is made by "Marriages". A bit pricier than others we've tried, but the only one our girls seem to actually enjoy, rather than just grudgingly eating it because they're hungry!

I should add, one sack lasts us ages, so it doesn't actually work out as much extra per week.

Hi

I've been to Greensforge near Kingswinford and their 20 kg bags of Dodson & Horrell Layers pellets are £7.40/20kg sack.

Got some other prices whilst I was there too.

Betta Bed shavings (large bale) £7.80.

Easibed & Hemcore about 10-20p cheaper - same size bale

1 litre of HIlton Herbs ACV - £2.95.

If anybody who is coming to the meet on 5th July needs anything, please let me know as I can bring some with me.
