WarrensWorld
Are Grapes good for Chickens. The reason I ask is this, I gave our chooks some small red grapes now they seem to be hooked on them. I don't mind giving them grapes, but how many, and will it do them any harm. Grapes and Raisins are really bad for Dogs, it can give them Kidney failure..... TAJ
Grapes are fine as a treat, good to get them back in a run and good to use halved with flubenvey for worming, but with everything in moderation - make sure their chicken feed is the main food. wooky
My two would walk Lands End to John O Groats if they had a grape dangled on a stick in front of them - they are grape obsessed and follow us round the garden like dogs in the hope of a grape. chickencam
Eggy swallows them whole, it is quite funny to watch
chickenanne
Yep, mine LOVE grapes. But they aren't allowed more than one each a day (ish) becuase we're mean! They behave as if we never feed them sometimes.....
Mutrix Farmers
Mine prefer red grapes to green and I don't think they would care about the health risks if there were any! All treats in moderation as TAJ wisely said!
Egluntyne
It is best to halve them so that they don't choke.
Sarahsausage
Tee hee! My 3 girls go bonkers for grapes too! They also go crazy for cucumber and chase each other round the garden making daft noises if one of them still has some left! (best to chop slices up though as Betty somehow managed to swallow a slice whole and I was a bit worried about her at the time but she was fine after a lot of gulping)
4Clucks-minusOne
Mine are having cherries (without the stones) at the moment as they are on special offer for 49p in Aldi. We sit and share them but guess who gets the lions share! They love grapes too.
dancing cloud
Mine would sell their souls for grapes . They'd probably rent them out for sweetcorn and mealworms, but there's nothing they love as much as grapes
Sally k
my girls 1 and 2 are also grape obsessed. When we fist got them everyone wanted to come and visit and feed them treats. They got a bit too much and got a bit greedy and expected every visitor to give them grapes, they even got a bit pecky. We stopped grapes for a couple of days and that settled them back down, now they only have few in the afternoon so I know they have had their pellets or i find they would just eat the grapes. They are also great for getting back into the run and they would do anything for a grape. We always have some in for that reason alone
Sarahsausage
I tried mine on a few bits of sliced banana last night..............nearly bit my fingers off!
eggalp
My four love grapes - they are their favourite treat. The prefer green to red and as others have said i always cut them in half so they dont choke. They would take my fingers off for a grape so are excellent for bribery! If its a really hot day i chop up a few in a bowl and whack them in the freezer for a bit - they love this! We have a constant supply of grapes in for the girls - my DH gets in big trouble if he tries to have any for himself!
