What came first, the chicken or the eglu?

 

Did you already have chickens and then discover the eglu, or did you discover the eglu first and decide to get chickens?

The Eglu.

 

It lived in my front room for a few weeks until we moved and could get the chickens

 

The dog liked it in the front room but chewed up the glug and grub

Got them together but if I hadn't discovered the Eglu I may never have got the chickens!

They came together - if it hadn't been for the eglu I don't know if we'd have chickens...yet. I'd have spent more time preparing the garden etc first but the eglu is so easy to move and doesn't take up loads of room.

Hubby showed me a picture of the eglu in his gardening magazine years before we got one. Then a friend up the road got hers and we were convinced. Still took us another six months of deliberating though.

They both came together I cannot remember how we found Omlet though!!!

The same time!! Our friends got chickens, but not an eglu and I was envious of them, and then I got my chickens and an eglu and now they are envious of me!!

I got them at the same time, but both were second hand . The family we bought the eglu from said their children weren't looking after the chickens properly anymore so would we take them with the eglu. I of course said yes . I still have Lilly, she is a Light Sussex, and I have no idea how old she is.

Chickens...

We bought the ex-batts from LHR

We found out about having chickens from Janty, and then found out about omlet a few days later

To be honest there wasn't much difference between the eglu and the chickens but the chickens started it!!!

Chickens first-We had Muddles and Henrietta in our wooden coop for about a year and 3 months, with Starlet being added to the flock 2 months after having the first two!

 

Then I got the eglu!

I got mine at the same time. I had wanted chickens for years and it was the design of the eglu that pursuaded me that now was the time to get them.

At the same time - it was the Eglu and the 'package' that persuaded me.

The eglu arrived on a Thursday and we went chicken shopping on the Sunday .

The eglu arrived on Friday, Chickens came on Saturday

 

Dad heard about the eglu on the radio, said it sounded interesting... I developed the idea It took me a year of research and persuasuion then he gave in, on the condition that they are farm animals and that I would have to pay for vets bills myself because he wouldn't... He now buys them premier mealworms and sunflower hearts, talks in little baby-goo-goo-oh-who's-so-cute-then? and runs out into the garden before I have my coat on to let them out

He's in love with and would do anything for them (including vets bills)
