Scramble
Not sure if this should be in eggs or clinic but here we go... Chickpea was a good and regular little layer, for a bantam, she started laying on January 9th and laid an egg every other day, then she became broody then she started laying again then Yolko started laying and we had a few weeks of wonderful chicken/egg bliss. Then chickpea stopped laying... okay, she's a bantam not meant to lay very often, then she laid yolks we bought limestone flour and put pots of oyster shell in the run, she started laying again then yolko went broody then chickpea stopped laying...then she laid yolks again I don't know why! We keep up with grit, limestone flour in the food, oyster shell, cuttlefish bone, layers mash, clean water, I even stopped her having mixed corn treats and then the yolks stopped and she wasn't laying anything, now she's laying yolks even with only her normal food she only has a few mealworms She's not laying anywhere else, I've checked. She used to lay her yolks in the nest box or the tray, but yesterday I found one in the run I was wondering if worms or mites could be affecting her? She dust bathes every day in a plant pot with eracacious soil and diatom... She acts normally, clucking , digging, running, walking, dust bathing, her poo is even normal, very normal! She has beautiful shiny feathers so I don't know if it's just me being a over dramatic chicken mummy.... She's perfectly fine, except the whole yolk thing. Just want to know she's okay Thought and advice much appreciated. x
Ain't Nobody Here
Jessie, I can sympathise . Milly and Maisie have had weeks of laying fragile eggs every day or so which get broken while Molly lays lovely hard eggs almost every day. They get the same treatment so I can't understand why either . I'm going to try some more Zolcal D.
Scramble
I've looked it up and that Zolcal D looks good, I think I'll buy some. Thank you! x
Snowy
I have one that persistantly lays softies as well, despite all the treatments Just a thought, have you wormed them? That can cause poor/no shells. If it's not that, it might just be one of those things
Egluntyne
I agree....I'd worm her with a course of Flubenvet and see if that improves matters.
