TAJ
So did anyone actually buy any of Judes table Birds to grow on? Tracy
Lewis
I did ask about them (not to buy, but to look at for the future) but she didn't have any in at the time. I'd be interested in getting some in the future though, after these chicks are integrated with the 2 big girls

Probably a spring project for you I guess now. Tracy

When we were at an animal rescue centre last week looking for dogs, one had a pen with 5 white roosters in. They were only young boys, looked about 20 weeks, but big and meaty. The owner had hatched them but couldn't keep them I was sorely tempted to offer them a home, but it didn't feel quite right. What are the ethics of rehoming birds from a rescue centre then eating them?

Redwing
Having heard horror stories about where young cockerels can end up I would have no qualms about taking a 'rescued' bird for the table providing I could give them a decent life first
The Dogmother
Thanks for the reminder Lewis; here are Jude's photos from the course. A couple of Lewis in action, to prove to his mum that he DID do it! There aren't any despatching scenes, but some show gutting, so are slightly gory
