and sealed his fate. Unfortunatly as we all suspected Coco was a roo and this past Saturday (AT 5:30AM) he found his "voice" and woke the neighborhood. He did seem to suprise himself and looked around as if to say "Did I do that?" as a condition of keeping chickens on the island I am unable to keep any roosters so Coco has been rehomed in a town nearby where people can keep roosters. I'm so sorry to see him go he was starting to be quite the stunner.

In my heart I knew it would happen sooner or later, but I was still holding out hope that I would find an egg in the nest box one morning. He is actually living on the mainland very close to the island and I've been told I can check on him frequently. And I will.

How old was he when he left?

He was just a young 17 weeks and was already quite large.....and loud. The photo was taken when he was 13 weeks in the photo so when he left he was much larger and his comb/wattles were a deeper red.
