Guest
terrible isn't it. I thought all dog units had air conditioned vans. Let's hope it's a lesson well learned!!!! The trite stuff they trot out when things like this happen... In a statement Nottinghamshire Police said the welfare of all of its animals was "of paramount importance and we endeavour to take every measure possible to ensure their well-being and safety". erm, clearly you don't!!!!! Tessa the Duchess
This story really upset me too Apparently the dogs were in a regular police car, they had just been donated to the police, whatever that means. Tessa
Ain't Nobody Here
I saw that . It's so sad - those poor dogs . I hope they get to the bottom of how it happened .
Seagazer
It is so awful isn't it. I would not dream of leaving Cookie alone in a car for a minute as the cars get so hot. My neighbour's son had an German Shepherd dog that they donated to the police, it had really strong guarding instincts. Too much for the son to handle. On a walk I went on last month they have a lovely cafe with seats outside that you can sit at with the dogs. An outside tap and lots of water bowls are provided, yet a lady finished her walk, put her dogs (plural) into the car and then went into the cafe with the lady she was with. I'm sorry but it was a hot day and even with the windows down it would be like an oven in a few minutes. Why could she not just ask the person she was with to get her a sandwich and drink etc. Thats what I did with my mum. I stayed outside with Cooks and she went in. Some people just asked if we would keep an eye on their dog whilst they went in. I gladly did this for them. Is it really worth letting your dog roast in a car just so you can get something to eat? Sorry rant over.
Patricia W
I used to have contact with Police and Prison Service dog training. They regularly get dogs donated for training as either security or sniffer duties. They have very good training programmes and re-home any that fail. They have huge waiting lists usually. The officers who look after and train the dogs are very dedicated so I can't imagine how this happened. Maybe the regular officers picked them up from wherever donated them and they just did not think.......... Stupid....

redhotchick
It was very hot at 8am this morning and I was worried about leaving my cat in the house all day. She has a very thick coat. No way would I leave her in a car. Isn't it illegal to leave a dog unattended in a car? I heard about these dogs on the news this morning. Very sad. ubereglu
The ridiculous thing was the car was outside the police station, so it could have been prevented.
Faye&Ant
I hate this time of year because I know I end up hearing about stories like this, total idiots When I read this on Sky, there was also a link to a story about a dog that had been tied and left to die for two weeks in a field, how can people be so cruel
