Valkyrie
Good Luck as I was reading the first post I thought... hm you can clean the eglu, then i carried on and read that you wouldn't do that. Oh dear Many Omleteers hopes have been dashed there JJ??? Sorry Lewis I can't help either, but I'll have my fingers crossed for you anyway. Seems the way of things at the moment. Bit too late to do sheep shearing too. Wild life places? Although it would probably consist of strimmed hedgehogs and other injuries to fur and feathers rather than bringing up baby birdies.
Chucky Mama
The new vets opening would be the local one, and I have a job there but as I said, its not open for 4 weeks. I've emailed a few local vets and not had a reply and they don't seem to answer the phone! I know the vet at the place where I have been before and am going to give him a call about going there, but its 45 minutes away so is hard to rely on my parents. I had another no this week from a local animal sanctuary, but it won't put me off. Been to a stables to try and hand in a letter but there was no-one there so I've phoned and posted it. Thanks for the help everyone You will get more joy speaking to the Head Nurse or one of the nurses in a practise. I wouldn't rely on email as they are easy to put on one side and forget about. I would go in if I were you and grab one of the nurses. You could try boarding kennels and catteries. Animal handling experience of any kind is useful. The Dogmother
Lewis, I have passed your request on to a friend of mine (you know who....), who has a livery yard and 'other animals' My local vet has a farm practice and the head partner is the country's leading poultry expert. Can I suggest that you write to Clive Madeiros at West Bar Vets in Banbury, mention that you know me (chicken lady) although he does know me by my real name too! you'd be welcome to stay with us so long as you don't mind sleeping on the sofa! Drew and Alan
Hi Lewis we cant help you with farm / vet / animal work as we only have hens and a puppy (and 2 parrots!) but if you did want a change of scenery ( as mentioned by Redwing!! )or see what life is like in rural France surrounded by nothing but fields and farms where everyone lives off their own land, you are more than welcome to come stay at ours in Deux Sevres. there are really cheap flights on ryanair etc starting from 1 pound each way, food wouldnt be a problem as we grow most of what we eat in our little veg plots! we are part of 'couchsurfing' (theres a link in our signature below) so we are used to having people coming to stay! anyways, just a suggestion! sorry we couldnt help further ! good luck and have a great summer! regards Drew & Alan

Lewis
Hopefully! I'm going to the vets this week which should be good, and because I've been before they give me things to look at and let me practice suturing - not on live animals though!
