get rid of 100 items

Recommended Posts

I'll be joining in in October when Carl will have more time, we certainly have plenty we can clear out.

I will be joining soon too! :D

My mum and I have decided that at Easter next year we are going to have a car boot weekend so we have til then to get our act together. Trust me, I will need all that time!

:oops::lol:

I should really get rid of some 'stuff' My wardrobes are full, and 3 draws are so packed the sliders broke (the ikea metal ones) so they haven't been opened for years! - that must mean all the things in them can go :)

I'll have a go at getting rid of it and then hopefully get some new sliders :)

I prefer to do 1 place at a time, like empty a whole wardrobe/cupboard and only put back what I need and the rest is thrown/charitied/ebayed. I also have a massive (like 3 foot high) pile of school work, I can't get rid of it, but have nowhere to put it yet

You could start on that massive pile of schoolwork Lewis - buy some archive boxes - or boxes that match your room and put everything in those - it will look so much better, even if you don't yet have anywhere to put them. When you get round to sorting the wardrobe, you may find that you can fit the boxes in there?

At the end of October I'm going to tackle my wardrobes - I only wear about 10% of what is in them

I have all my other years work in archive boxes, and so is work experience stuff, but after exams it all got dumped in the corner of my room behind my wardrobe and its stayed there since!:lol:

I cleared out my clothes wardrobe - there were still clothes with labels on from xmas presents 2 years ago! My brother had those + the rest went in a charity beg.

I'll start now and see if I can get rid of some more 'stuff' :D

I've thrown out 53 items so far! 2 large bin bags to charity shop. Have made a list too. It's mainly clothing - I need some new clothes though now, as hardly have anything to wear. Everything was too big!

Desperate for jumpers! I have plenty of shoes & handbags, but can't go out just wearing those.

Lots more to sort through yet!

Well I started the wardrobe, got rid of old bed sheets + clothes, then one of the drawn underneath broke and the metal slider trapped and cut my finger so I gave up

There were also some XLR cables + mic's which I borrowed from school last year that I took back which half counts as gettig rid of them

Bit pathetic, but I'll keep going

Not at all - and yes, returning things you've borrowed counts, because it means they are out of your space! It doesn't have to be throwing things away, it's all about getting rid of stuff you don't need.

you're inspiring me, time I did some more. Ooh - I gave about six books away to a friend who was running a bookstall to raise money for Cancer Research, that counts.

I've been on a mission lately. In fact there is a skip on the grass verge outside. Garage and 2 bedrooms are in the process of being fettled. It is amazing what you accumulate.

I 'accidentally' dropped a teaset of MILs that had been languishing in the garage for 6 years. Oh dear.

I wouldn't have insulted a charity shop with it.

It is very uplifiting to be clear of clutter. It is true what they say.....it does weigh you down.

I was going to tackle 'stuff' in October..........but instead, we've added a puppy

Oh well, as soon as house training is over............I will tackle my wardrobes.....

I have been busy in the outbuildings though and they are a lot tidier and we have almost enough junk for the next skip.......

Can I join in please? :-) You're all doing so well!!

Moving house soon and downsizing, not drastically, but we seem to have accumulated an awful lot of stuff.... would quite like to keep some kind of log on how I'm doing on getting rid of it all, and I've been watching this thread for a while! Oh, I also want to try and avoid putting it all into landfill as I'm trying to be a bit greener.

ah well, we are getting a replacement sofa.... but hopefully not until we've moved!!

Its all you guys that have spurred me on, I can see you all chipping away consistently, and its great!!

9) old CDs - broken ones in the bin, decent ones sold to magpie music - so I gained £20!! I highly recommend that site, you don't get much for each one, but it all adds up and its so easy. We still have an awful lot left tho.....

:D Welcome to the topic Jane, I'm glad you feel inspired. Well done on such a great start, I'm afraid I've fallen by the wayside a bit, but hope to continue soon.

We've been thinking about replacing a settee that I really dislike. But, we changed the furniture around in the room and it can stay, so that was better than getting a new one.

Keep going Couperwife, I like Lesley's comment.
