Clootie, how do you manage to get them before the squirels? Our tree is full again but I swear the squirels sit up there laughing at me as they steal the nuts They strip the hazel trees too

Can I be really stoopid and ask what do you do with green walnuts ?( I have only ever used the walnuts from the supermarket that are in little packets)

here's the recipe for vin de noix in case anyone wants it. We're going to make it with clooties nuts, way hey!

 

Don't ask me what it's like as never made it before but I've heard from my French pal that's rather like port and very nice.

If you still have Walnuts I'd love some as well. Especially if they are still in their green sheels as I understand this is what you use to make pickled walnuts. My MIL's mother loves pickled walnuts and they are very hard to get hold of !
