rufusrooster
I cant believe it but ive had my eglu and hens just over 4 weeks and already i'm looking to increase the number of hens i fully intended to have and eglu and 3 hens and that was it unless i decide to get a wir maybee in a years time, but after having to take 1 back cos it turned out to be a cockerel it leaves me with a vacancy, im now looking at getting 2 new hens, according to the info given you can keep 4 medium sized hens in an eglu, thats ok but would i need to extend the run ? i probably know what the answer will be but would still appreciate any comments, does anyone else have 4 hens in 1 eglu & run ? thanks. Redwing
I did have four hens in one Eglu, the Eglu space is fine bt you will need a converter to add 1m to the run, if they get out a bit that should be fine but mine didnt and it ended up a bit cramped Chicken keeping should come with a warning on the box! its very addictive

Egluntyne
You would definitely need to extend the run if you were keeping 4 hens in the Eglu. The recommendation is one metre length per hen, but if they are free ranging for part of most days, you might get away with just one extension. Any less room and they will squabble and develope bad habits such as feather pecking.
teri
you're right about it being adictive i started with 2 hens at easter...i now have five hens and seven chicks, which includes a pair of frizzles and a pair of chaucer bantams if i can get another coop and run i'm keeping the lot!!!! if you do plan on expanding i recommend a walk in run with a roof. i built my own and have tweeked and added various improvements all the ideas for which came of here. my 7 year old son helped me build this perch today as you can see they love it!
