Ledducy
Hi everyone! This is my first post and I'm rather nervous! I've got x2 batches of babies. My favourite maran girly Judy hatched x10 gorgeous chicks 16weeks ago (Easter Sunday). One died at 3days old (her mum stood on her), but the other x9 babies are very healthy and very big! Having now driven my husband absolutely batty and my bank balance lying in ruins, I've now got more coops than ever and separated my girls (Bella, Pancake, Figgy & Mulberry) and boys (Currant, Custard, Licorice, Raisin & Treacle). The problem is that I've now got very good natured and truly beautiful boys, but no where to put them. Although they're in a nice long run with a coop suitable for up to 10 large fowl, I know they're going to start arguing! What do other people do? I was going to advertise them, but want them to have a bit of life before someone inevitably puts them on their table, plus we've had a spate of chicken thefts in the area (including in my friend's field opposite us). Please help me???? Thank you!!!! Lucy
chelsea
Hi Lucy and welcome to the forum. If you have cockerels who need rehoming, I would suggest trying another forum such as Practical Poultry Pekin Bantams Forum River Cottage You could also try maybe advertising in your local shop window/local paper or even ringing around a few local sanctuaries/petting farms (although I suspect they are full of unwanted cockerels. ) Please see Omlet's rehoming policy here viewtopic.php?f=35&t=23118
Redwing
The Pekins Bantam forum has been ceased but Bluelaced has a for sale section Member 'Beegal' on Practical Poultry on Bluelaced forums often takes and rehomes cockerels, he is based in the Midlands (look in the wanted sections on these forums for one of his threads) Omlet has a marketplace (in the breeds section) its an area separate to the forum where cockerels can be advertised Auctions such as Salisbury and Melton Mobray accept cockerels (although Salisbury will only accept them with a female so if you don't want to sell the females thats a no no) If they are a good quality pure breed you have a better chance of rehoming them obviously All the very best with the re-homing however I do feel that this thread should prove a very gentle warning to any readers to consider this before deciding to hatch eggs

Patricia W
Tom123 also came up with someone in the Wiltshire area who will take unwanted chickens. And someone posted on here some time ago that they would take them also. I seem to think they were in the north - Wirral? I don't know if its easier for you to get to Steve at Cannock or one of the others. I do hope you find a solution. In my experience they start fighting as soon as they begin to crow so I suspect you don't have much time. Can you keep one? I have a cockerel and he really adds another dimension to the flock.
