Ruecam - Today is the day (hopefully) - Photos added

I am afraid I have some sad news about the 5th egg - it WAS underneath her and the chick did not manage the hatch. It was a little girl too. It was egg number 3, which I think I mentioned the other day did not look as lively as the others when I had candled them. I have buried her in the mint patch - the big chooks seem to leave that alone. i guess she should be Fifi then.... :(

Sad to hear the last one didn't make it, we were upset when our two who had pipped didn't managed the full unzip, but decided that Mother Nature knew best :( RIP little Fifi.

Lucky you to have two of each...watching my 3 posturing all over the place I could well have 3 boys ...I've got everything crossed that they will show girly colours in the next week or two...I really should have gone for autosexing chicks, Lt Sussex just aren't helpful in that respect

Lol! I think maybe the barrier of pots it a bit too intimidating for them! I think I had better go out and move them back a bit! Yes they are Portmeirion, otherwise I don't find too much use for the ramekins in our hurly burly family existence!

REALLY sorry about slacking off with the webcam yesterday.. I went fishing, and my brother said he'd do it, but apparently he thought that checking the webcam was still in existance was the same as setting it up. Its back today though! Even though all Rue seems to be letting us view at the moment is her tail end, all the chicks are in there bouncing around, so hopefully she will move eventually!

Back from holiday, and spent the afternoon putting the washing on, making an outdoor run for the chicks and re-arranging the broody coop.

The chicks have grown so much! They are starting to get some real feathers too. I carried Rue, and then the babies down to the outdoor run on the lawn this afternoon, and gave them their first chopped lettuce and grapes for a treat. You should have heard Rue calling them to tell them there was something good to eat! And then she dropped bits of grape and lettuce onto the ground for them to encourage them to feed - sooo sweet!

One of the little sweetings was trying to have a dust bath tool, bless its little heart :D

I expect there will be less to see on the webcam now, as I will get them out onto the grass in their run as much as poss. Will make sure its turned towards them when they are not out tho!
