Just had a near disaster when I spilled my sparkling mineral water on my laptop! Had to rush upstairs and dry it with the hairdryer!

I still haven't seen a chick! They are autosexing and the girls will be brownish and the boys greyish.

The dish is ancient - I got it while I was at university many many years ago! But I thought it was good to use - hopefully chicks can't fall in it!

Well I have seen a chick! I went in a lifted Rue's wing and this little s"Ooops, word censored!" fell out cheeping for England! I feel guilty now! I helped her tuck it back underneath, and it is cheeping a bit less now! Time to leave well alone and see tomorrow, I think!

Lol she still wont let me anywhere near! I just went out to show my daughter the bugs/features of the broody coop and all the chicks immediately disappeared under her and she went flat as a pancake!

my broody was very selfish for the first few days as well!

Strange, mine is not the friendliest chook normally (and hates being picked up for meds and syringe feeding now too!) but was very content to let me crawl around in the eglu run whilst she was still sitting in the eglu and also wandering in the run with the babies, and also let me pick them up in the eglu when they were a day old.

Awww cuteness! I just went and had my first cuddle! Well, let them crawl on my hand, really. Rue didn't look to keen, but the chickies were inquisitive. There look to be no more than 4 - 2 boys and 2 girls. I guess the other egg is underneath her somewhere.

It would be lovely if all 5 had hatched. Will try and investigate further later when I go to change the water and fill up the chick crumb.

Yesterday was my daughter's friend's birthday, and his nickname is TinTin (at the moment) so I thought we might do names of Tin Tin characters. The boys could be Tin Tin and Captain Haddock, and the girls, maybe Bianca and.... I haven't decided yet! I have found a website that has names of Tin Tin characters, so I will keep looking.

 

Lol - there is a character called Major Wings - I think that is better than Captain Haddock!. There are very few females in Tin Tin, but there is Coco, so Coco and Bianca? If not there is Fifi (which was my nickname because I am Fiona) or Ernestine...
