laurmurf
I am NOT letting the Lurker near this post.... We have the most gorgeous pet of an 8 week old araucana cockerel who we would lurve to keep. I'm going to give some of this a 'go' before we accept what I think is the inevitable the other plan is to 'do a Redwing'... and I'm working on it! Old Speckled Hen
Can somebody explain to me why it's acceptable to keep any living creature banged up in the dark just so that you can enjoy it's entertainment value when it's allowed out into the light? xScrunchee
I guess I could ask why people have hens and then let them free range on their own all day until eventually they get killed by a fox, but I don't
xScrunchee
So far-so good. It all seems to be working out fine. Kev gets up around 7.30-8.00 am. 9.00 am on weekends. The girls get let out earlier which doesn't seem to bother Kev in the shed! The more he is settling in, the less he seems to be crowing. He's a brilliant boy and it's worth making the effort to keep him quiet in the early mornings as he really does add a special something to the flock. I love him While it's working out like this-everyone is happy
Mutrix Farmers
You sound like you are being very considerate of your neighbours, and I wish you every success and happiness with Kev! Someone near us (after what someone else said it could be 3 miles away) has got a cockeral (we live in a built up urban part of Margate) that woke OH up at 6am on both Saturday and Sunday!
